Re: Time to say goodbye for some
Will Boyle is definitely a captain for the future, and it won't take him long, but at his present age I think it would be an unfair burden on him. I favour Stoz 100% - he's an absolute warrior. There are temperament risks, but players with his passion and commitment all have that risk (e.g. Wayne Ro...

Re: So how was the ref on Saturday
He looks like he's one of the younger Refs on the circuit - but I don't remember a moment in the game where the fans remonstrated about any of his decisions. I do remember thinking to myself straight after the game that I couldn't remember much about his impact either negatively or positively and to...

There was one loan who has stood out for me greater than anyone, and he was the signing of the season:
Scott Brown.
My thanks got to Scotty, and to Wycombe Wanderers. Scotty kept us up. No doubt about it.

Re: We are staying up!
Quite right RCS, and whilst us and Portsmouth are in the same boat (nothing to play for) if we do manage to win next week then we could well end up in mid table anonymity. What a season! Champions stay up despite everything going wrong. Storer out for months; GJ's horrible illness; a pitch that got...

So, we are agreed. Our resident fictional Hartlepool destroying avian will henceforth be known as
Solomon (Solly) Jonathan Livingston Seagull
Seems rather fitting - but then again so did my trousers a couple of years back

Re: Saturday predictions
Our seagull's favourite Beatles album?
Rubber Sol
What else could be in the pecking order?
Anything by Noel Gallagher, or specifically High Flying Birds ?
We wouldn't want Solly to fly into a Wonder Wall, especially if Pelle is lining up to smash a free kick straight through it.

I'd like to be the seagull's agent.
I would negotiate a hefty release clause in his contract - at least five hundred and twenty thousand squid.
It's got to be better than hanging a monkey ?
A monkey is only worth five hundred.

Think you're getting confused RR - we missed out on automatic promotion on the last day of the season in 01/01 and had been no lower than 10th since November and not out of the playoff positions at all since the first weekend in February. I think 05/06 we were playing on momentum. You're probably r...

Re: Who remembers this one?
We had some rockin' crowds back then, but what I remember most about that year was the build up of momentum after Christmas. The momentum was definitely with us as we came from nowhere to get into the play-offs. The expectation and anticipation during the Play Off semi's was electric and we kind of ...

Re: Saturday predictions
Yes, an absolute shocker by Mr Carson's Standards, RCS, but he pays the price in two ways, not just with the relegation ... he's substituted shortly after the goal, and soundly boo'd by the Poolie faithful, as he solemnly trudges off the field knowing he has probably sealed their fate. But every clo...

Who'd want to take that job on? Their fans Forum is quite revealing. Lots of talk of a proposed fans takeover of the Club as they don't trust their current owners/Directors. They've pretty much accepted relegation but feel they need to secure the parachute payment for the Club and to stop the curren...

Re: I hope there is no monkey business next Saturday
I think we need to be very careful about winding up the Ref especially in the early stages of the game. Let's at least give the bloke a chance, it's a major assumption that he's going to be pro-Hartlepool. If we make a premature enemy of the Ref, we could be down to 10 men in no time at all, and it ...

The roly poly goalie, some overweight ex-pro footballers, the world, and his dog were on the pitch the other night, along with a row of chairs with masses of contestants for a penalty competition sat on them, during half time in the Legends v Jockeys game in the week. Re: discipline
By my reckoning RCS I believe the stats are as follows: With Stoz playing we've had 10 League wins from 43, but he's only played in 20 League games, so that's a 50% win rate. We also picked up 4 points from 4 drawn games when he's played. Without him we've only won 1 League game. If he'd played ever...

Re: discipline
Stoz for me epitomises why we should forgive 'indiscretions' on the football field. Without Stoz, what would our points tally have been? He's our most important player, a natural leader, an organiser driving the Team on, a protector, a winner, giving his absolute all for this Club - even if that occ...

It's very easy to knock a 'silly' booking in the aftermath of the event. We fans get wound up on the terraces and in the stands by the antics of referees and some opposition players, and we have to accept (but not necessarily condone) the fact that our players will also get wound up over a situation...

Re: MATCH DAY VLOG - GRIMSBY (VIDEO FROM THE AWAY END)
Adam was pretty restrained in his Blog summary, fortunately, unlike some of the other Grimsby fans. My advice to them is simple: if you can't take it, don't dish it. Although I wouldn't recommend any footballer indulge in taunting the opposition fans, I think Pelle had just about had enough of their...

Good shout Oldun as it has been a bit quiet on the news front.
Sincerely hope Gary is feeling a lot better, and most likely the result today v Grimsby would have been a great tonic for him.
Fingers crossed he's back to watch a game soon, or even better, back in the dugout where he belongs.

I'm really pleased for Russ Milton this evening. He deserves plaudits too, as he's had some tough weeks since Gary's operation, and it's the second time he's had to attempt a rescue job at the tail end of a season for the Club. Great game today, I was entertained throughout, well done Russ and the L...
