Re: Robins Report Podcast

Completely agree with Si on this one. Even if more clubs had been interested, the very fact that we named a price would have meant that any bidding war would have taken place on AM‘s salary rather than in the transfer fee.

Re: Cheltenham Town v Wigan Athletic

We deserved to win. We battered them and they didn’t like it. Great to see us having many more shots than the opposition and the midfield three worked really hard, shows what we’ve been missing.

A cup run would bring confidence, money and a welcome break from mostly losing league games. Man City game aside, our record over the past dozen or so years is pretty bleak and represents one missed opportunity after another. If anyone at the club is not taking these games 100% seriously, please le...

Re: Darrell Clarke after AFC Wimbledon defeat

We‘ve made progress under DC but there‘s no point shirking away from it looking like a poor team selection, just as it was for the first half at Blackpool, and we‘re not getting the best out of Ferry by continually playing him out of position.

Re: League One - clubs in crisis

Fans are quick to seek sympathy when a club’s spending beyond its means eventually comes home to roost. But very few fans question the excessive spending when it’s actually taking place, during which time the club is gaining an unfair advantage over clubs that live within their means. Sadly, all a m...

Re: Worrying possibly

I think too many of the loans were panic signings. Throw enough mud against the wall and hope some of it sticks. If the choice is between Lloyd and the two loanees, I’d go with Lloyd as it serves our best interests to find out if he’s good enough; it’s not as if the other two will be with us next se...

Re: Cheltenham Town v Cambridge United

Great to get three points and to create some genuinely decent chances, but it did look like two bottom six teams out there. Still, small steps, and an important one given what has gone before it. The front two worked well together and I just hope that Lloyd can complement this. Curtis Thompson had e...

I thought we were pretty solid under MM. Generally good recruitment, stability in the squad from season to season and not overly reliant on loans. It was his departure that started a chain reaction that has left us where we are now - letting him leave at a crucial time, taking too long to appoint a ...

He looked pretty lively in the pre-season games I saw. Hopefully he’ll be someone we get a chance to see progress to the first team rather than being sold on at the first opportunity so he can be lost in a squad of 70 players at a bigger club.

Apologies for distracting from more weightier topics, but does the club offer paid parking at the car park on weekdays. I couldn’t see anything on the website. May’s departure was actually assisted by the board. Moore‘s departure at the most important time of the year (for that role) was the responsibility of the board and (presumably) not helped by not having a clause in his contract. The length of time to replace him (internally as well!) and replacing h...

Reading and Northampton - games we could have won? I’ll take this with a pinch of salt when we’ve scored 0 in 11. Bad luck doesn’t feature with such a poor record.

I don’t think we’d get much for them either but if we’re as good as down by Christmas, and it’s looking increasingly like that will be the case, we may as well offload some players who won’t be around next season and bring in ones who we want to be here. I can see some of the loanees going as well a...

I thought it was a yellow initially but looking at it now it’s a stupid challenge and it’s late, so I don’t think he can complain. I think the ball went around the wall but there was one player (Sercs?) who was standing a yard or so away from the wall. Had he been in the wall it may have been a diff...

Re: Lincoln City v Cheltenham Town

Agree with Lord Elpuz, we didn‘t recruit to replace Jackson & Broom, although I accept that a couple of the loans might eventually fill those gaps. This has certainly created an imbalance in the team, it‘s robbed us of options going forward, the strikers look worse as a result, and we‘ve resorte...

All those loans to me says how poor some of our contracted players are. Weve lost 3 crucial players from last season in May, Taylor, and Jackson and havnt replaced them, they were pivotal to last seasons survival and held the squad together. Now theyve gone were exposed to how average those players...

Very good half. We started on the front foot and have kept it going for the most part. Freestone (?) very unlucky with a header, denied by a great save, but Goodwin’s header was a bit weak on our clearest chance. Lots of the ball popping up in the Barnsley area but it is a concern that we haven’t be...
