Please could someone take this thread around the back and shoot it (proverbially) in the head?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Robins Trust relaunch
https://www.robinstrust.org/posts/introducing-the-new-robins-trust/ The Robins Trust is relaunching this weekend and you can find out a little more via the link above. An exciting time to join if you have not already given its leading role with the Fan Led Review and it's status as the fourth larges...

Re: Gillingham v Cheltenham Town
Duff gets booked quite a lot. I don't think he can take much of a moral high ground!
Still in the Cup, if the draw has us away at Wycombe or something then play the kids and put Wade in the dugout.

Re: Portsmouth v Cheltenham Town
There is a reason why Southgate was reluctant to play Grealish and it comes down to tactical discipline. It is important to accommodate that as part of any system. It is one of the many reasons OGS is struggling at Manchester United. He hasn't been able to find a system to accommodate several 'luxur...

Re: Portsmouth v Cheltenham Town
It's not a negative necessarily, but note Duff's comments after the Morecambe game: "Dan Crowley will get the headlines because of his football ability, but the other three don't half have to work hard to allow him to do what he does and that doesn't go unnoticed from my point of view." Ma...

Re: Portsmouth v Cheltenham Town
Crowley is with us for a reason.
He is capable of doing outrageous things and he is a delight to watch. However, his game offers little off the ball or defensively. The higher up the leagues you go, the harder this is to accommodate.

Yes but we are pretty flakey at defending set pieces.
It's not been his night so far, but he is probably one of the few who could produce a piece of magic... Difficult decisions.

Re: Portsmouth v Cheltenham Town
Even half. Neither side look brilliant - Portsmouth look like they have another gear to click.
Some loose passing, especially from Flinders and Chapman. Portsmouth showing more aggression to win the second ball as the half progressed.
Crowley could make a difference in this one.

Re: Cheltenham Town v Sheffield Wednesday
Crowley isn't fit enough to do 90 minutes. Draw probably a fair result but we had our chances to make it 2. The Wednesday fans were a disgrace - booing their team and chanting "We're f#!$ s#!t" and then invading the pitch when they score. The equaliser was the sweetest feeling I've had at ...

Re: Doncaster Rovers v Cheltenham Town
Haven't watched the match in full but have seen the highlights. We are a lower mid table team at present - consistent with our inconsistency. A bit like Fleetwood, yesterday feels like unnecessary points dropped, which is strange when you were 3-0 down. Really basic and unDufflike errors our undoing...

Re: Cheltenham Town v Morecambe
We broadly know what Crowley's strengths and weaknesses are. What will trouble some managers is that a system will need quite a bit of tweaking to give Crowley the freedom to do what he does best. It puts a lot of pressure on the rest of the team. The flip side of the coin is obvious. His numbers fr...

Re: Cheltenham Town v Morecambe
I had to rewatch the game this morning because in live time, I recall saying that I don't think I've ever known a Cheltenham player to be able to pick out a pass as brilliantly as Crowley did yesterday. The cost comes in respect of positioning and work rate off the call. I should imagine that Thomas...

Re: Cheltenham Town v Morecambe
It took me until the third goal to get over the equaliser. Incensed. The most half-witted thing I think I've ever seen on a football field. Flinders made up for it though. The annoying thing about it was that we were so dominant and we just gifted them the goal. We can forgive that because the playe...

Not remotely a contest in my mind. Staying up.
I'm not even convinced I'd even attend the final of the pizza cup. Been to Wembley enough times and do not really see it as a proper trophy, especially since it's been devalued by U23 teams and FL teams fielding babies.

Agree with everything posted.
Would have been nice to have got through this run of fixtures a bit more competitively but we got what was expected. Time on the training ground and rest is important now.

We also had the most makeshift of makeshift back lines.
We've lost two games away to the teams who occupy the top two.
This really isn't a crisis.

Re: Sunderland v Cheltenham Town
Still in the office so didn't watch the game. Seen a few references to a lack of effort. Is that really the issue? Or is it more a case of us having played poorly, lost a bit of confidence and being beaten by a better team. I really don't think you can expect much against a club, away from home, on ...

There's nothing we can do about it and it is an opportunity for Perry and Long/Freestone to establish themselves. Not the news I wanted to wake up to though. Those two are arguably the first names on the team sheet. Poor Callum. That's such a disappointment for him at a time he was really developing...

Re: Preston North End v Cheltenham Town
Barring an unlikely turnaround, this has been a complete waste of time. Lost a day (and possibly more) on the training pitch, a huge amount of travelling and risking further injuries to our already depleted squad. The main positive will be giving minutes to our younger players who will learn some of...
