Great idea. The new stadium could be somewhere neutral, say Churchdown or Brockworth. The land by the old airfield would be perfect.
And we could pay tribute to our heritage by renaming the new club the Cheltenham and Gloster Meteors.

Crewe is a good trip on the train. Crawley isn’t so for that reason I’m rooting for the latter.
That would deprive us of a #ctfc derby though.

Some games will be rearranged at very short notice, whatever they say.
TV has a long and glorious history of shifting games on a whim without a care in the world for match-attending fans.

Matty Carson released by Reading With Williams gone and Ferry likely going, he might be a good shout. An attacking left back and excellent set piece taker who naturally plays in a 5. He might get another L1 club, but more likely to drop to L2. Worth a look imho. And you can never have enough Mattys ...

Actually, I think Sammy puts together the fitness plans for players over the summer, reviews fitness levels on return and puts the pre-season training plan together. So, need to get him replaced sharpish before the players return in 6 weeks or so time. I’m sure we have a solid succession plan in pla...

The train isn’t as horrendous as I thought.
Chelt to Padd
Tube to Victoria
15 minute hop to Bromley South.
Could actually be quite a fun trip.

Bromley have just torpedoed our mouth-watering Boxing Day fixture against Solihull. 😉 Will be interesting who we do get on Boxing Day. We are nearly always at home, you’d think it would be Swindon but the EFL don’t seem to like real local derbies on BD. Traditionally it’s been south west clubs like...

Amazingly, Burton, almost qualify.
Played them in 2015 in L2. We got relegated to the NL and they got double promotions to the Champ. We of course, bounced straight back which may not meet your 12 month criteria?
Still remarkable, regardless.

I think the age thing is a big problem. At Reading and Derby I noticed that the turnstiles had lights on the inside which lit up different colours depending on the age category of the ticket scanned. A line of stewards inside were watching the lights and then watching who came through. I suspect the...

A few Errea strips have started being revealed for the new season which may give an inkling of how ours might look: https://www.footballkitarchive.com/errea-2024-25-kits/ Some of the collars are a little odd. As I said, I'm not really either for or against it. I just don't think it's the guaranteed win some people seem to think it is. A bad appointment will be a costly folly, a good appointment will put rocket boosters under our off-field activity. The core problem we have is the slow pace of developmen...

Re: Retained list
The counter argument with Lloyd is that he scored 5 goals in 20 games for Grimsby in L2. That would equate to 11 or 12 goals over a season. Not a goal machine, but not bad either.
So, perhaps that’s his level.
And it’s all very likely a moot point because it seems almost certain he’s going anyway.

Jacob Greaves awarded three player of the year trophies at Hull - players’ supporters’ and the Liam Rosenior award (whatever that is).
Very clear what a class act he is when he was here. Could be in the Prem next season either with Hull or someone else.

Re: Darrell Clarke after Stevenage defeat
So, in summary, arguments about the relative merits of any given manager are generated from pre-conceived opinions about that manager that are cast in stone.
If you don’t like Wade, you’ll never be persuaded he was any good. And vice-versa.

On Wade; I suspect it was his personality. Your average football fan likes fire, brimstone, optimism and passion from their managers. DC has that in spades.
Wade was quiet, thoughtful, cautious and pessimistic/realistic.
The bar for criticism is much lower for that kind of coach.

“Bashing the Board” is a pejorative way of describing the debate anyway. It’s not a binary issue: I accept that the Board are well-intentioned, good people doing it for the love of the club. I also think they are imperfect and there is plenty of room for improvement and constructive criticism of how...

A couple of my personal thoughts on ST prices in the CF. I would be happy for the CF STs to stay the same price but would like this to be accompanied with a decision to make the whole concourse available to home fans for every game. Then ST holders get to actually enjoy the facilities. That one won...

As far as I can tell, Stevenage Borough Council own the Lamex. They took ownership in 1980 and the most recent reference I can find to the tenancy is a rent payment delay from 2011 agreed between the club and the council to fund ground improvements. Unless ownership has changed since, it’s the counc...

I know behind-the-goal facilities are more basic and a Main Stand would cost much more (though I’m not sure where £12m comes from). And we have the added complication of a land issue with Cakebridge.
But what a creative idea? There are ways and means if the will and capability were there.

I’ve just been reading up about how Stevenage funded their new North Stand (the one at the opposite end from us) 5 years ago. They launched a mini-bond scheme in which fans contributed between £500 and £25000. In return they got interest (4-8%) on their investment plus perks including access to hosp...

I don't see a reduction in prices coming - they'd be crazy to consider putting them up though. It will be hard not to with running costs increasing by circa 20% in the last years. But they must try. Tough to raise prices on the back of a relegation, but with inflation as it has been and costs increasing, it'll be really hard to keep them pegged.
If they do go up, there's going to have to be some creative pricing/incentives to maintain renewals next season.

Seems like good old Cheltenham Town can't go through a summer without turmoil of some kind. Two years ago it was the manager, last year the coaching staff. This year it looks to be the Boardroom. It does feel like fan anger with the Board is bubbling away and it won't take much to blow the lid off....
