Re: Big TV/streaming changes for next season
I’d also question the necessity of broadcasting (or streaming on red button) most League 2 games. Say for example you’ve got Cheltenham vs Morecambe and it’s 12th vs 17th in March 2025. Realistically how many people are going to be watching that on TV? Less than 1000? If that game was selected they’...

Big TV/streaming changes for next season
Sky have just announced some big TV changes for next season. Appears every EFL team will be available on Sky’s new streaming platform at least 20 times a season. On the surface that does suggest to me that’s at least 20 games which won’t be a Sat 3pm KO, unless the blackout rules don’t apply to the ...

Surely must be approaching some sort of record, I remember Erreà doing our kits in the late 90’s.
Think only Arsenal have had the same shirt sponsor for longer than us but that will be due to the stadium.

I think we do get bespoke kits from Erreà, they aren’t usually templates which seems rare for lower league clubs these days.

Re: Stevenage v Cheltenham Town
When you go down by such a narrow margin it’s easy to look at certain games or moments, but really that Carlisle home game stands out as a massive missed opportunity. What a time to put out an absolutely 0/10 performance, when they had the chance to move out of the relegation zone. Saying that thoug...

Re: League One - clubs in crisis
Wycombe are the football vultures circling above Reading at the moment, they appear to have purchased their training ground for what is likely very much below market value.
Reading fans, unsurprisingly, are a little bit bent out of shape about this news.

Re: Matty Taylor confirmed
One potential reason for the longer than usual contract could have been us being unable (or unwilling) to match his FGR wages, so the only way to get it over the line was to lengthen the contract. That’s just a guess of course as have no idea what he was on at FGR, but it’s just very unusual for us ...

Thought it was a strange career move at the time, just didn’t really make massive sense to me.
Had he continued at Barnsley and got them promoted he could have commanded a better role than Swansea, who in recent years have been neither here nor there.
Just didn’t seem like a good fit from the start.

Re: Daily Express - Alfie May.
You could make a good footballing case for May to slot into any Championship team but I don’t think he’ll be in the plans of anyone higher than lower mid-table in the league above. If May was 4 years younger then it would make more sense but I can’t see a team that is pushing for the Prem to be buyi...

No new deals offered at all, think they’re in a spot of bother financially, and with a takeover stalling it’s looking bleak up there.
Stockton didn’t really do anything this season until the last couple of games, but suspect he’ll attract interest from wealthier clubs than ours this summer.

Re: FA Cup draw
That should be an interesting one with a decent away following given the short trip, however I don’t think that will be a TV pick. There’s quite a few non-league teams at home to league opposition, you’d expect Hereford - Portsmouth to be the first pick. If the fixture was reversed it would definite...

Re: 3PM Saturday blackout
A couple of things: Is there any actual evidence that televising games has a direct impact on attendances? it seems a safe assumption to make, but if it's only an assumption without evidence we need to be cautious in drawing conclusions. I think I remember a few years back, Crewe said that when Liv...

Don’t think it really makes sense for Duff and Burnley at this time. Maybe in the 2000’s before Burnley spent some time in the Prem but the step up now is enormous. With the way Burnley (and most other clubs dropping out of the PL) will be run I can’t see them taking a punt on Duff at this stage. If...

On a slightly unrelated note they should bring back the old goal nets. These ones are too close to the hoardings and they are often ‘yanked’ by away fans, as they were today.

Now more likely to draw a Premier League team (15 of them left) than a Championship, L1 or L2 team (13 of them left).
So Rochdale away it is then.

42 year old Kevin Ellison with a stunner to level it up on aggregate. Think FGR’s third goa would have been given offside if there was VAR as he did look like he got in the keepers vision.

We had the second best goal difference despite not having a player inside the top 22 goal scorers in the League, which shows how well the goals were spread out and how many different people contributed overall. That will be an area which MD will likely look at, last time we survived in League One we...

Whilst I'm not one for banning gambling as it's a perfectly enjoyable addition to the game for many people, I do think the advertising has gone way too far and is over-saturated, especially in the Premier League and the Championship. Just thought it might be of interest to have a look at some of the teams from our last season in League 1 (2008-09) and see how times have changed since then. Here's a few noteworthy teams from that season of the Martin Allen disasterclass. Leicester City - Now one of the best teams in the country a...
