Re: Tom King

Except not a single person has said if he's on the bench then he'll be expected to come on and make an impact. What's been said is that he is one of two fully fit forwards and has a contract as a professional footballer so there should be a space for him on the bench in case the other forwards go d...

Re: Cheltenham Town v Bristol Rovers

The key missing ingredient from then to now is the strikers, Goodwin and Street, or one of the 2 with Lloyd were able to compete well for each ball and even if we didn't win it there was always good pressure which enabled us to fall on a second ball and start another wave of attack. I agree up to a...

Re: Destiny is in our hands

The only big error Darrell has made was his experimental team set up against Carlisle. Saying that it looked good in training the day before...well! Hindsight is wonderful of course and the biggest challenge he's had is having a powder puff strike force for half the season. You don't win too many m...

Re: Destiny is in our hands

Maybe im alone in thinking this but i am actually frustrated in the position we are currently in. 10 matches ago we had decent momentum but have fallen of a cliff form wise. We are only still in it due to Burton and Vale being similarly woeful. The turning point for me was January we had a chance t...

Despite what some will have you believe, we'll have one of the lowest budgets next season regardless of what division we're in. The club is skint and has no facility to make money outside of football itself. Staying in League One every season is a miracle. Worth reminding ourselves that Barry Banna...

Re: Cheltenham Town v Bristol Rovers

So, would you not play Lloyd? Who would you replace him with? I was in fact supporting your case that there is no point in getting on the players backs as it seems to be purely the case that they are not good enough for who we are playing against. As far as GL is concerned, he opinion I was putting...

Re: Destiny is in our hands

I’m not one for conspiracy theories, but I have come to a recent conclusion involving the huge sums of money that gets ploughed into the EFL & Premier League. Football is big business, and in business, money talks and that being the case, Cheltenham cannot possibly be a popular team especially ...

Re: Cheltenham Town v Bristol Rovers

Lloyd's value to the team is his energy, chasing, tenacity, winning the ball, and setting up goalscoring chances. I agree, it would be great if he also scored a few goals as well, though I suspect if he did, we would struggle to hold on to him! Therein lies the frustration of supporting a club like ...

Re: Referee for Burton - he owes us one.......

It's undeniable that we appear to have officials against us at most home games (I've not seen enough away matches this season to comment). It's also undeniable that if the ref's against you, it has a massively negative affect on the team's performance. QED

Re: Destiny is in our hands

You can add worsening standards of officiating to your list! It sounds trite and biased saying this, but we really don't get any help from the officials. At times, it feels like there's actually a vendetta against us! Yes, the team hasn't been performing in recent weeks compared with the earlier per...

Re: Cheltenham Town v Bristol Rovers

Darrell Clarke is the reason we weren't relegated weeks ago. We have the smallest budget in L1 and, I believe, the smallest squad. To compound this, we have walking wounded and simply don't have the cover and strength in depth enjoyed by other clubs in this league. DC has taken his share of any blam...

Second best, we‘ve deserved nothing. Wtf are you talking about? Second half we were by far the better side Over the 90 minutes Exeter were the better team and mostly controlled the way the game panned out. They worked the ball well going forward whereas we were pretty wasteful or lacked options and...

Re: Teams around us - Thread to season end

Yes, exactly 👍. Our destiny is dependent on our own results more than what others do. However, a helping hand here and there always helps! Our biggest problem all season has been having to make up lost ground. We've effectively had to do twice as well as teams above us just to get ourselves into a c...

Re: Teams around us - Thread to season end

The result we didn't want today was a Burton win and our wish was granted 👍 It means they are now catchable (as are Vale). Looking at the form of the bottom 6 since the turn of the year, no one has excelled, though the Robins have fared best with 4 wins and 3 draws from 14 games (1.07 ppg). Vale's f...

Re: Robins' amazing improvement

I think our more direct style is working partially because all teams are now used to teams always building from the back and defending against that. Therefore defences struggle against being constantly under stress Definitely. Playing out from the back has, all too often, been suicidal for us and I...

Can you back that judgement up with facts perchance? I have been watching football 60 years. I never saw such a comeback as this. In 2021 Nottingham Forest lost 6 out of their first 7 games. They had one point and sat bottom of the table after their worst start to a season for 108 years. They were ...

Maths and logic being distorted a bit. That's a fair point, Horteng, the pressure would've been truly intense...and GJ rebuilt the entire squad. I didn't really want to continue the ping-pong but, ok, Man Utd lost their first 12 games nearly 100 years ago  . I was looking at the fixtures last night. We have 15 games remaining and 11 of those are against teams 10th or below. 10th or below are basically out of play-off contention, realistically, currently 8 points back having played a game more.
