Re: Advertising
Personally don't find it offensive or odd, not just because it is quite a pleasant tipple, but if any item is openly on sale in every supermarket in the country. It strikes me as slightly churlish to suggest that a random advert should be banned. I would doubt your average alcoholic is bingeing on a...

Re: Advertising
Just seen a blatant piece of advertising by the official Facebook account for Jameson Black Barrel whiskey. Struck me as very odd and I've never seen that before from CTFC. Not entirely sure it's appropriate? Not necessarily because it's alcohol, just because I didn't think the club would be doing ...

Re: Blackpool
Why would an ineligible player in an FA Cup game lead to a points deduction in the EFL? I don't know if it will but, as above, if it's to do with the keeper, presumably they've also been using the "emergency" keeper in L2 when they shouldn't have and they will have broken League rules too...

Re: Blackpool
One of the theories from their forum is that they fielded their emergency loan keeper - but named their 'injured' keeper on the bench. That might explain why it's not so cut and dried as the Barnsley case. Weird I can't remember which club it was, but I recall someone falling foul of playing an eme...

Re: Blackpool
They’ve done one of two things wrong: 1) played an ineligible player due to complexity of loanees. Wouldn’t be first club to do that, rare but not unheard of 2) more seriously, manipulated the ‘emergency loan’ of their goalkeeper. You’re allowed to get an emergency loan keeper if you have no other ...

Re: League One - clubs in crisis
Reading back under a EFL embargo for failure to pay HMRC bill Is that another automatic point deduction? No. Because players have been paid 100% of wages, while club staff have been paid 50%. So, no points sanction because it only applies to non-payment of playing staff. As such, low paid office st...

Re: improvements
The improvement is almost beyond belief however the bookies still have us as 1-5 favorites to go down which shows the extent of the mountain we need to climb. Clarke has installed an us against the world mentality in the players who appear to be willing to run through brick walls for him, if he can...

Re: Cheltenham Town v Oxford United
Superb performance from everyone today. Like most others feared the worst when Street got sent off, but the shift from everyone else was fantastic. Thought Tom Pett was superb again, why Port Vale let him go baffles me more each game. Curtis Davies was immense too and probably shaded MOM for me (fi...

Re: Cheltenham Town v Oxford United
First match back from hols and we win, so no connection at all. Enjoyed that, pretty solid performance all round. Lloyd a lot more active than AK.
Second goal, I think the linesman originally thought Goodwin and headed the ball, when in fact he got nowhere near it, so Lloyd was OK yards ahead

Re: Six Nations
Rugby Union has been in a financial mess all the time it has been a professional sport. It has made the mistake of paying the players too much money well beyond the income generated. Hence the demise of many a club in recent times. I would expect the sport to follow cricket and go for the cash offe...

Re: Robins Report Podcast
Well he went on the Monday after our first friendly, so it was no later the first week of July. As already mentioned, he spent a couple of days with Derby, but their financial rules stopped them being able to bid so it wasn't just Charlton he was interested in. In fact, it was Gillingham that he or...

Re: Robins Report Podcast
The problem with any valuation is that it is tied to the length of the outstanding contract. Within 12 months, Alfie's transfer value would be down to zero. All the advantages are with the buying club. Do you accept what is offered knowing full well that in a year you are going to miss out on £250 ...

Re: Robins Report Podcast
I thought the debate was a bit daft but I see Si's point. The club set the min price and there was only one bid of this price so they could of cost themselves money. Who knows? Should of started at a higher price or just stated open to offers. Who knows what May or his agent told any other clubs to...

It was, but then a massive part of me thinks we should have held our ground. He effectively had two years left on his deal (1 year plus our option) but the minute he’s kicked his toys out of the pram we’ve backed down. I know contracts are almost not worth the paper they’re written on these days, b...

It's a bizarre thing... I have a few friends who swear by them - uncoincidentally, they all live alone and generally cook for one. They're not friers in any way, shape or form - they're just really small (and very efficient) fan ovens. I am of a similar mindset. Am strongly in the opinion they must...

Odd one this, I have no doubt the welcomed the chance to play for DC again. But would seem to look like Keena is safe, for now - of he doesn't fall into the 'not professional every day with right attitude'

The Echo up to its usual standard and has a pic of May when you go on to the CTFC page. I assume given the status of the game that DC was more concerned about giving certain players certain minutes - which meant playing some out of position. For all we know DC may have said to Chapman “you are never going to play in centre mid so we will only keep you as a versatile back up for other ...

Why did we play a forward with limited left foot ability at left wing back and Chapman out of position? It was 11 against 9 on the pitch. Re: Oxford United
They won't take Cotts there, his style of play is the total opposite of what Manning has them playing. Could see the Cowley's being interested but also being overlooked for a more progressive younger coach. Also I heard Cotts had applied for the Bristol Rovers job, could certainly see that happenin...
