Re: Cheltenham Town v South Shields

I have never understood the "concentrating on the league" line. There is a strong correlation between promoted teams and teams with long cup runs. Cheltenham's best ever League 2 season saw a fifth round FA Cup run. Lincoln got to the Quarter Finals in their barnstorming National League t...

Re: Cheltenham Town v South Shields

Following on from Robin's post where he thinks the top three EFL2 teams will finish, I wonder if that is a common opinion. At start of season Bolton, Bradford, Tranmere & Salford were bookies favourites but none of them are in top seven in table. Cheltenham & Exeter were expected to be there...

Re: Cheltenham Town v South Shields

Are you an FGR fan Graham? Based on what I saw last week I don't think they'll get a play off spot unless they sign a decent striker. Meanwhile I'm confident we will finish top three despite some indifferent form in recent weeks. For me Salford, Cheltenham, Port Vale in that order. Yesterday FGR &a...

Re: Cheltenham Town v South Shields

Top result EDIT: shame we can't be drawn with local whipping boys FGR as they slipped to a 6-goal drubbing to Lincoln City. Ben, be careful what you say. FGR may be out of FA Cup but they can now concentrate on winning promotion. And they already have a two-point start over CTFC. Of the two competi...

Still set for a play off win then Graham ;)
Correct and with that experience from last season Chelt should do better and get that elusive promotion.

Re: Great time for Gloucestershire football!

RCS, your perpetual jinx has shown itself up once again.
As soon as I read this thread, I immediately knew CTFC would be knocked off their auto promotion perch.
That is perhaps okay but to be replaced by FGR, of all teams, is a kick in the @#**#.
RCS, PLEASE stop making such bold prediction.

Re: CTFC vs FGR Home 31st Oct2020

The game on Saturday would normally be a probable home win if played against any other team than FGR. They do seem to have the jinx over us as we do over Swindon. It seems the bookies are hedging their bets by slightly favouring FGR but expecting a drawn match. [1] 6/4 or 2.5 [x] 11/5 or 3.2 [2] 19/...

Clearly indicates how poor this league is this season . If only we could be more convincing at Whaddon Road. Sent from my SM-T510 using Tapatalk To early in season to make that statement. Dreadful to lose two regular 1st teamers for possibly a few games in same match. My best wishes with hope for a speedy recovery and return asap to both men. All managers have contingency plans for losing top players during season and MD will be no different, but it is still a big ask for other playe...

Unbelievable, un-bl##dy believable.
Unlucky to be behind at half time but doing enough to draw level and then pinch all the points.
Second half nothing until final moments of game.

I've read reason the government are concerned about allowing crowds at large sporting events is not the stadiums but issue of volume arrivals on public transport /car and congregating near grounds and in pubs.

How long do you want pubs, restaurants and other social venues to kept shut for then? Say a vaccine is not available for five years, do you want stuff shut for that long? I don’t want fans back if it means the virus comes back badly. Nothing against CTFC of course but getting to see a match in person is never as important as the health of our families and their lives. Why is/should football be any different to other social gatherings? The strict safety protocol that...

Bookies and Punters are not always right. Good PR and a reputation as big spenders will mean FGR are well backed, shortening the odds. Some interesting stuff about one-way systems, and entry/exit around grounds.
