Re: New assistant manager confirmed

I seem to be going against the grain then because I'm weirdly confident. If GJ had come in as manager, then I'd be negative, but it's easily forgotten that a core of the team that won League 2 in 2021 were his signings - Long, Hussey, Tozer and Thomas were all Johnson signings. I think tactically h...

Re: 100 largest cities in the UK by population

Wonder if that includes Bishops Cleeve, which seems to be doubling in size every year. It does not. It is based on the ONS’s ‘built up area’ definitions. If you look at the map in section two here and search for Cheltenham you’ll see that Cleeve is its own area, not included in Cheltenham. https://...

It will be a true end of an era if Russ completely moves on with a clean break. Usually proper club men (Fergie, King Kenny, Bobby Robson, etc) stay involved in som form or other behind the scenes or in the posh seats until brought to a natural mortal end. I always thought Russ would be the same.

I’m never convinced about a Director of Football in any club. Shouldn’t it be the manager who is identifying and signing players? Isn’t that part of his job? What happens if a manager is trying to ingrain his philosophy and playing style on a team if someone else is doing the hiring and firing? Do ...

From memory - never been to the new ground - I'm guessing they must have owned the old one, and it was sold for housing. The tyre makers owned acres of Burton in that era. But any research done to date would be the club’s property, not the analysts and I’m sure there are clauses in their contracts. Yes, but then we are relying on a) the club to be able to interpret the data and b) the club to crunch the numbers of potential new signings without an analyst. The new an...

In answer to your question, I’d say another analyst will do his job…. What’s an analyst got to do with playing staff recruitment, probably not a lot. Well we all know Vince loves making a 'statement signing' from yourselves. I do wonder why we signed so much shite (and kept employing out of their depth managers) whilst in L1 or last season in L2 and that it's only now we're back in the National League that we're actually making good signings und...

Au contraire my dear fellow, you did more than hypothesise, you were way out in your assumption of a saving of £75k. My reasoning was that the Club would get £4k as a return. ctfc-fan has stated a £7k return, so I will meet him half way (as that’s an estimate too) at £5,500 and I wasn’t far out. An...

I think you have slightly missed the point about winter months and evening games. Not much power, if any, is going to be generated by the solar panels after about 3pm in winter, and definitely not in the evenings either, as it’s dark. Solar panels generate electricity in the light - it doesn’t have...

We wish ! Problem is CTFC didn’t go for battery backup afaik, so in winter months plus evening games, there is no sunlight so no solar charging - therefore the cost of running the floodlights remains pretty much the same as always. Not strictly true. Power can still be sold to the grid when it is g...

What would your solution be then? I have no solution to offer, so I offered none. If you pushed me, I'd probably suggest that the new club should be exactly that. Fans who have lost their old club would naturally gravitate towards the new one if there's a common link provided by, say, the home grou...

The counter argument with Lloyd is that he scored 5 goals in 20 games for Grimsby in L2. That would equate to 11 or 12 goals over a season. Not a goal machine, but not bad either. So, perhaps that’s his level. And it’s all very likely a moot point because it seems almost certain he’s going anyway. ...
