Re: Carlisle on Saturday
What's wrong with Truro... from a few leagues behind... ? I like going to Torquay, but we are jumping guns. Truro - up and coming... is surely good. Torquay, maybe on the come back too... This is good. If I missed the joke, I apologise. There's nothing wrong with Truro or the football club. I watch...

Remember last season when it was a dead rubber for them as they were relegated whilst we were scrapping for our lives.

Re: Former players
Nathan Butler-Oyedeji made his Arsenal debut at Ipswich today, and nearly scored with his first touch, but the keeper finger-tipped his shot over the bar. Thought he looked really good. Just shows what a gamble these loans are. It turns out he came to us about a year too early, but you don’t know t...

Re: CTFC spending on Agents' Fees - 02 Feb 24 to 03 Feb 25
I agree Jerry. I do not know how this system evolved. I paid my own legal, accountancy and financial services bills when I was working running a business. If I was a footballer I would get wise and not need an agent. I guess we don’t know if players do pay agents a fee or a percentage of signing-on...

Re: League 2 Payrolls
The chart breaks down costs by keeper, defenders, midfielders and attackers so it does not appear to contain non-playing staff.
No idea if the numbers are right or where they get them from.

Re: promotion question
I am fairly sure it happens in the Northern League (9th tier). Team have to apply to be eligible for promotion (to the Northern Premier Div 1) by a certain date, unless it has changed in the last few years. There have been a few teams who have gone up from 4th or 5th as the teams above them chose no...

Here’s the video again for those who have not seen or can’t find it. https://youtu.be/Dj5GHJdP22M?si=q8oH9zPL69Cdueay Shared with some younger football-loving colleagues yesterday as a history lesson and made my wife watch the two goals this morning. I was in the car on the way back from a family holiday with 5Live on. The two goals came in later than most other scores so they got a mention each time, interrupting whatever else they were talking about/commentating on.

Re: Late Goals
Nice. I feel like we scored a lot of late goals in the L2 winning season as we often wore teams out. Or am I confusing it with another season? We certainly went through a period where we would finish games stronger due to superior fitness. I remember threads on here about it at the time, how we mig...

Re: Robins Report Podcast
There’s often a moment when a player becomes an unredeemable black sheep for a fanbase and, for Bennett, I think it was the Cruyff turn against Fleetwood that led to their first goal. It was a terrible personal decision in one of the worst team performances I’ve ever seen at WR. Bennett was the foc...

Re: Information for fans travelling to Harrogate - Robins Trust
Would Harrogate be OK for a couples weekend, any info welcome Yes. Fantastic architecture (reminiscent of Cheltenham) and Betty’s (of Taylor’s of Harrogate fame) is their equivalent of Bath’s Sally Lunn’s cafe. It has the pump room, gardens and restaurants you’d expect of any of these type of Georg...

I too had to turn the Sky commentary off because of the continual shouting with a few choice swear words thrown in. Unfortunately the BBC Radio Glos commentary is about 10 seconds ahead of the on screen action so couldn’t sync it. If you are based in Gloucestershire can you use BBC Sounds and pause...

Re: Cheltenham Town v Colchester United
The lack of crowd noise being picked up and the racket from one bloke who seemed to be, deliberately or not, placed near a microphone made it a hard match to view. Awful standard of coverage on Sky +. Can anyone suggest the best place on their site to complain? I turned the sound down. I too had to...

Re: Cheltenham Town v Colchester United
Wow that was undeserved although the losing Bradbury and Pett didn't help things. Unless the referee influenced things through a shocking decision which impacted the result then everything in football is deserved. We scored more than them fair and square so we deserved it. Well, yes technically but...

Payne has always looked one of our best attacking threats to me when I have seen him play, especially against Counties Newport and Notts.
But no complaints as so often in January we need to rejig things to improve elsewhere on the pitch.

Re: Big pay days for rivals
Cracking stat from yesterday. Tamworth would have earned more than their entire annual income from a replay at White Hart Lane alone. The FA have a lot answer for. Even for us, a share of gate receipts at Anfield/Emirates/WHL would cover nearly half our annual wage bill. On the one hand yes it’s ba...

Re: Evolution of Goalkeepers
I would argue that this evolution is rooted even further back in the early 90s when the “back pass” law was introduced. It was comical watching old school keepers having to deal with back passes to their feet. It led so a slow development of goalkeepers comfortable with the ball at their feet and t...

Geography plays a role too. Playing for Blackpool, having played for Sunderland, I imagine he is close to the A66/A69 or M6. Carlisle is about 30-40 miles or so closer to Newcastle/Sunderland than it is to Blackpool so if he is still in the area where Sunderland players live then it’s less travellin...

Re: Seat availability
My mate questioned, given digital tickets, how hard it would be to have the technology for season ticket holders to click ‘not attending’ for a specific game which then releases the ticket for general sale. Say the ST holder keeps 20% or so as an incentive for doing so and the club keep the rest as...

I knew the ST holder next to me was away, so a mate bought a ticket in Block 7 and sat next to m in Block 4. He wouldn’t have come had he not been able to do so. In the two rows in front of us there were 10-12 empty seats directly in front, right on the half way line, which are all ST holders. They ...
