There's countless examples of players biding their time and coming in late as they drop the league they want to play in or wage demands. Keep the faith.
I'm glad we waited for Naylor!

Re: What constitutes a good season
And a cup run is merely a welcome bonus. Fifth round (or big club draw) should fund a promotion push (i.e bringing in your McGlashans' or Bensons' etc.) Where we get in the cup shouldn't define if it has been a good season. I would take 7th place and 2nd round of cup over 8th place and 5th round of ...

Re: What constitutes a good season
if someone offered me playoffs and a 50/50 chance of promotion I'd take it now and say it was a good season. Bad season; 15th or below Mediocre season; 8th-14th Good season; Playoffs Great season; Promotion (automatic or playoffs) Fantastic season; Winners (or fighting until the end of the season fo...

Exactly. I could easily say right now that we will get a signing within a week....leohoenig wrote:I do like it - we have more targets, they are not named. VC can then say he got it right when someone signs.
When he signs I shall claim I retrospectively knew all along.

Re: Random question
The longest player contract we've ever done is three years but we haven't done one of those for a while. Both Michael Townsend and John Finnigan had three year contracts but were forced to miss long spells through injury. Since then the most we have done is two and a half years. Interesting. Did th...

Re: Your five favourite/least favourite players and manager
Faves How has no one mentioned Steve Cotterill yet?! Brought this club to where it is today. Lindsay Parsons -signed some great players which SC took to the next level. Jimmy Smith -first player I idolised Archie Howells -still one of my all time favourite players Grayson -legend. He has a Chelt tat...

Re: Pompey budget
How do we fit into this claim? "Most of these clubs, even small ones, are operating on million-pound plus losses which are either being propped up by the owner, a cup run or a player sale. A lot of clubs go into the start of the season knowing they are going to lose a million-pound plus."...

Larry without doubt. You'd think he ran through a brick wall every game and still get up and do it again.

a whopping;
He has 20 shares in Arsenal representing 0.032% of the Company's issued ordinary shares
But chairman, impressive. Sounds like he's a good friend of Hill-Wood.

Re: Saah definitely moving
Not so sure on Saah. The reason for shipping Bennett out was to get some pace at the back with Hector. Think that's still the case, we need a centre back alongside Stevie with a bit of pace as at the moment we only have Sido that's got that asset.

I see it being; Brown Jombati - new cb - Elliott - Jones McGlashan - Taylor - new cm - new lm Harrison - new at 4 key new positions. centre back, central midfielder, left midfielder IF the others sign on Carter may be the "new cm", Taylor/Penn fight over a spot or play together in 4-5-1 wi...
