Seen that this is doing the rounds on a couple of forums, and would be interested to read who your personal favourites/non-favourites are. They don't have to be the best or worst five to have played/managed, and can be chosen for any reason. Loan players are not permitted, unless they are season-long loans.

My favourites:

John Brough - I sponsored his boots, and he kindly gifted a pair to me
Russell Milton - my first favourite player, and he was always very kind when I was a junior robin
Grant McCann - an exceptional player who I always enjoyed watching, plus it is clear he holds the club in high regard
Neil Grayson - how could you not?
John Ward - always a gentleman and always generous with his time. Remembered your name too.

Worst:

Martin Allen - no explanation required
Michael Townsend - never warmed to him as a player, and struck me as having a bad attitude
Justin Richards - ideas above his station and appears to have found his level
Darren Carter - just never felt he was really interested
Elvis Hammond - just did nothing.

My favourites:

Chris Banks - just oozed class and never should have dropped as low in the game as he did
Anton Vircavs - one of my favourite defenders.
Grant McCann - just owned the central midfield
Steve Gillespie - the best striker we have ever had in my view.
Tony Naylor - such genius.

Worst:

Justin Richards - ideas above his station and appears to have found his level
Bobby Gould - conman
Martin Allen - wrong time and wrong attitude.

Favourites:

John Ward - Speaks well about this club.

Brian Smikle - Just for the fact that he had so much determination to do well here but ultimately it didn't work out for him.

Keith Downing - Did a brilliant job here and I remember him trying to get us fans going by doing a lap around the pitch before the Doncaster game!!

Andy Gallinagh - Just gave 110% in every single game which is all we could ask for!

Alan Bennett - Always had time to speak to fans, nice bloke and a very good defender of course.

Least Favourites:

Andy Smith - Obviously didn't fancy sitting on the bench for 1 game did he!

Martin Allen - No explanation needed!

Matt Green - The guy was a terrible "striker" here, also looked as if he wasn't interested half the time.

Michael Townsend - Yes, very bad attitude and it was always somebody else's fault and never his.

Justin Richards - Agree with above.

I couldnt stop the first list, second i struggled with a bit

Faves;

Booky - Such a character, what ever happened to chucking the loo roll on the pitch?
Deering - again, a good character but also has a lot of skill and potential
Disco - a very talented player who did well for us.
Gallers - "Andy Gallers is a red", one player who always gave his all.
Lee Williams - One of the most exciting signings, or so I thought.
Greg Goodrige - for his wondergoal.
James Wesolowski - brilliant player
Grant McCann - no explanation required
Alan Bennett - in his time here he was a clear fans favourite and it was a shock to see him go.
Russ Penn - Captain Crimson, not only does the nitty-gritty but likes to have a shot on goal too. Likes to have a laugh in his interviews too.
Marlon Pack - for THAT freekick and moment of delerium

Worst;

Daniel Lloyd-Weston. Why did we even bother?
Adam Connelly - ego the size of the moon.
Chris Zebrowski - such a waste of talent. Frustrating more than anything because he IS a decent player.
Andy Smith - hahaha
Justin Richards - lazy and bone idle. May find the Conference South a bit tough, all that running abourt
Martin Allen bottom of the list, why the bottom? Because thats where $h|t comes from.

How has no one mentioned Steve Cotterill yet?! Brought this club to where it is today.
Lindsay Parsons -signed some great players which SC took to the next level.
Jimmy Smith -first player I idolised
Archie Howells -still one of my all time favourite players
Grayson -legend. He has a Chelt tattoo, just shows how much he loved playing for us.
Victory -every left back will never be as good. (sorry but I couldn't leave any of these six out)

I wanted to add, Banks (fighter pilot), Eaton/Watkins (together as a strike duo), Booky, Clive Walker, Naylor, Duff M, Alsop, Mccann, Sido and Pack to the list.

Dislikes
MA -all went wrong and should have walked rather than fight to stay on like he did. Wrong fit for our club in hindsight.
Zebroski -wasted talent. Think we could be in League 1 if he didn't have "demons" which meant he departed in Jan.
Andy Smith -as if we're not good enough for him.
Boulding -sorry a cheat one here, for trying to get us to sign his younger brother.
Hammond -wasted ability again.
Hayles -looked so good on loan then lost the plot when signed permanently.

Favourites:
Jimmy Smith - My first hero
Steve Cotterill - He who began the formation of what we are now, with help from Paul Baker
John Finnigan - Came in to replace an injured Archie, and was fantastic from day one
Alan Bennett - Best captain we had since Finners, probably better if based solely on his leadership abilities.
Neil Grayson - No explanation necessary is there?
Damian Spencer - I loved the bloke, regardless of his ability
John Ward - Such a nice bloke, always had time for a chat.

Disliked:
Martin Allen - A given surely
Brian Wilson - Liked him whilst he was here, but I hated the way he left.
Martin Riley - Didn't like putting his head in and that's criminal for a centre back
Elvis Hammond - Waste of space

surprised nobody has mentioned Mark Yates- great player, not so great manager. And im not going to lower myself to bite to poor comments about a manager who is a CHAMPION and a great bloke who was manager at the club between 2008 and 2009.

Just because he's been successful elsewhere, you can't deny he was a failure here.

Whether you like to admit it or not, Yates turned us around from the state he left us in, and with a much tighter budget initially. The facts speak for themselves.

Top 5:
Disco Devaney - if for nothing else, for one of the highlights of my time watching CTFC in just a normal match, the last minute 4-3 winner v Northampton.
John Finnigan - for being everywhere.
Dave Bird - for being the local boy who gave everything for the club.
Steven Gillespie - most natural goalscorer who gave us some great memories.
Alan Bennett - again, gave everything and wore everything on his sleeve. And a bloody nice chap as well.
(not mentioning Cotterill, Ward or Yates because they're a bit obvious, I think. Everyone likes a manager who's had some success)

Bottom 5:
Martin Allen - doesn't matter, what I just said above.
Medy Elito - one of the worst performances I've ever seen form a player and never appeared again.
Elvis Hammond - as others have said, a lazy waster who's a nasty piece of work, judging by his recent prison sentence.
Leon Constantine - useless.
Chris Westwood - gave it all this, that and the other about wanting to join us permanently, and then went to Wycombe.

Favourites:

Steve Cotterill - brilliant manager, brilliant fun being in ear-shot of the dug-out.
Jamie Victory - always the first name on my Best all-time XI.
Boka Freeman - nobody got distance on a clearing header like him. Fond memories of him tearing a strip off Booky in one match.
Neil Grayson - LEGEND.
Mark Yates - tough call to put him ahead of McCann, but he gets my nod as a player. The nearest CTFC have ever had to a Roy Keane.

Least Favourite:

Martin fookin' Allen
Antony Griffin - don't get me started...
Barry Hayles - a complete waste of a considerable amount of space.
Mike Townsend - seemed to think he was better than he actually was but had a nasty habit of letting the ball bounce.
Elvis Hammond - simply couldn't be arsed.

I would similarly struggle to name just 5

Just starting from the back in our final non league days, difficult to exclude Chris Banks, Michael Duff, Jamie Victory and Boca Freeman from my favourites.

Midfield - Archie Howells, Grant McCann and John Finnegan are obvious picks. I loved David Norton although we were sadly only blessed with him for a single season. And Darren Wright was always a favourite of mine. We would not have been promoted without him.

Up front - Grayson. Watching the robins has never been as good for me since Grayson left.

That's 10 favourites

Least favourite - there are so many poor signings although of late the strike rate has been remarkably good. Sometimes players have simply been not good enough and i will not critiscise those. My selection would be those that picked up their wages but cheated the fans. Zebroski and Hammond would be two obvious ones. There are others but I tend to forget them as soon as they move on.

When he first came and could be arsed he was great to watch and was right up there, but due to the way he left and his antics for Crawley, he drops to lower middle, just above the most despised list.

Favourites:

Russ Penn - Can't fault his loyalty to the club and work rate.
Julian Alsop - Got him on the back of my first Cheltenham shirt, Cheltenham through and through.
John Finnigan - Great captain to the club and a fantastic midfielder.
Josh Low - Never deserved the amount of stick he got, was a pleasure to watch him play at times.
Steve Cotterill - Thanks to him we are where we are.

Least favourites:

Martin Allen - Nasty piece of work, I can never forgive nor forget what he did to this club.
Justin Richards - Lazy sod.
Michael Townsend - Horrible attitude, glad to see him leave.
Michael Pook - I remember him saying particularly unpleasant things to other players on our team when he was captain, polar opposite of Alan Bennett.
Elvis Hammond - Same reasons as others.
