Anyway we have also (apparently) signed Andy Procter from PNE. So unless we do a Cheltenham it's a done deal.
Ugh.

Are you done yet? You're just being a pest more than anything now, leave.

The fact you slashed your ticket prices in a desperate attempt to get more fans is laughable

FC United of Manchester (your ground tennants) have more supporters than you!

Thats like Gloucester having more fans than us.
Except you're wrong, because FC United averaged about 1,400 last season. And how in any way are FC United comparable to Gloucester? They have the whole of the Man U fan base behind them, whereas Gloucester do not.

Probably because the two clubs play in the same division and both grounds share at Gigg Lane and Whaddon Road respectively.

Worcester City's adult season ticket is £240.
So yes it is, you're cheaper than a BSB South club!

That's what I was thinking. If our season tickets were £200 I'd buy two.

If Bury had not managed to find out that Grimes was available once he had not signed for their near neighbour, they are hardly likely to pick it up from a local paper 100+ miles away
Because of the locality, I would think Bury would only needed to have matched our offer, or even come up slightly lower, and still got their man. I cannot be 100% certain, but I would imagine that Grimes had been talking to both clubs and indicated that our offer was OK, but then got a suitable offer closer to home.

That's dirt cheap - the local economy must be dead if that's what is deemed the price point for a season ticket. That equates to £8.70 per game. People must be really poor up north!

Maybe we should get on the phone to Ban Ki-moon and organise some care packages

Agree, but all local papers are in the public domain on the net.

I suggest we move on and look forward to any signings we do make over the next few days / weeks.

I do feel debate over why the deal fell through is a valid discussion.
MarkHalliwell
It fell through because he went back on his word. Simple as.

Wonder if we will be more hesitant to deal in verbal acceptances in the future.

When you say "we", do you mean "the press" ?? To the best of my knowledge, the club didn't announce anything...

Or maybe "we", the fans?

A question that JP can ask MY ( if he dares)

Did Mark actually meet the player or was it all done on phone and email etc
Did the player commit or was it the agent
MarkHalliwell
No point in carrying it on. He's gone to Bury so we move on.

Why? It's shows trust and loyalty of a player.
As said already, Penn, Troy Brown and Cureton all agreed verbally to join us yet still have offers afterwards from bigger clubs.

But as Mark said, why are we still going on about it?

No, but I'm sure that the club were pretty expectant of Grimes signing. If we had asked him to sign a contract at the time then I wonder whether he would now be a Cheltenham player. That's what I meant.
