That's a pretty decent signing, did well for the Shrews in this league, clear replacement for Harrod.

Confirmed.

I know nothing about him, so I am not overwhelmed. Would love to hear others' views?

Same question again really - why was he released from Rochdale (especially after commanding a fee in January)?

35 goals from 153 lge games ( but how many were sub appearances

Strange that Dale sign him and then release him

That however, I believe that Yates has an eye for a striker so I am looking forward to seeing him play
Were does that leave the trialists
It may improve our dealing terms as we now have 3 strikers so will one of them be the fourth

I believe we are now looking at one more first team starter (left winger) and then we will add 2-3 more loanees/trialists to add competition. Of the 2-3 a striker and defender look obvious which means Rees will have to really impress to get a deal.

I think Rees is worth a punt - one for the future
Bowerman also would be good on our terms
that would give us 4 strikers
If we sign the left winger I dont see anything for Anyinsah
although he may be a winger option
It depends on the 2nd offer signing or not

either of Bowerman / Anyisah 1 yr contract or will Yates pick someone late in the last week of preseason

We do need an exceptional left winger, I just get the sense that we are slightly weaker than last season.

Ashley Grimes was also released by Rochdale, I guess it was more a cost cutting thing than him not being good enough.

Does indicate that, Peter.

I think it's extremely important to realise that he is only 23, still learning his trade.

Was it Gornell who put in a bit of an overexuberant challenge on Scott Brown in the 0-0 at Whaddon Road and maybe should have been sent off?

Average player as his record suggests that but i will back him and trust MY where as i feel Brown,Cureton and Richards improved our squad this is only to make up the numbers.

I presume he will be our 3rd choice striker behind Cureton and Harrison. I think we can safely say Duffy is off... Especially if Bowerman signs a deal.

Bowerman looks promising as does Rees they have adecent chance of earning contracts imo Anyinsah maybe could be used as a back up winger maybe.

If his record is about 1 in 4 then that will be 10 for the season. As has been said 23 still learning and who better to learn from than cureton.

Duffy is on trial at Kilmarnock and was not offered a new deal.

Also it's clear to me that Cureton is our main striker it's just who partners him and so far I'm thinking Gornell is more likely than Harrison especially at home.

I'm quietly optimistic about the squad MY is building. I think the hunger to succeed within the team is already greater than last season, even if the quality (on paper) may appear a little less.

Cureton's wealth of experience will be great for Harrison, Gornell and hopefully Bowerman (shame he picked up a knock but still hopeful he'll sign).

Rees sounds promising, perhaps give him a one year deal and look at loaning out either Williams or Hanks to gain some first team experience?

A quality left sided winger to sign and a CB on loan as cover and the team shall be near enough complete!

Any chance of "pushing the boat out" to secure Rooney? Any news from Swindon about his standing there? Where's Kos when you need him????

Who thinks we have improved our strikers from last season?

Is cureton, gornell better than harrod, Duffy and benson?

I'd have Benson, Harrad, Cureton and Harrison. However with that strike force we'd no money for a squad.

Swindon are desperate to off load Rooney - I don't believe that is a secret but he is on decent wages and apparently holding out for a golden hand shake before exiting.

Happy enough with this. Decent record for somebody of his age.

All we ever have to remember is Gillespie's record was poor before joining us.

Conversely, Jason White's was actually pretty good... ;)

I'm happy with Cureton, Gornell and Harrison, however it's no secret that I think Bowerman can add goals to our game.

Think those 4 would each get 10 with ease.
Gornell and Bowerman are both still young too, so 2 for the future.

Yes, well he's at a proper club now. Rochdale had a team full of players who could only be half arsed by the sound of it. Now he's somewhere where everyone should be up for it every game, which should spur him on. If not he'll find splinters in his arse as a few have found over the last couple of seasons.

I think Gornell's comments at the start of his interview say quite a lot, "will give me a good workbase to work from and that's massive for me."

Of the players who started the season with us......
Zebrowski we know about !
Duffy spent most of the season getting splinters
Harrod hardly had a kick after the new year
Goulding should not have been kept

As for other strikers we had last season
Benson joined in the window
as did Harrison

If we sign Bowerman or Anyinsah we have 4 strikers on a level if not higher than last season.

It is the midfield that worries me more, how to replace Pack as the creative element.

Still think we also need a CB?

Richards is a replacement for Pack Nesty. I can only see a left winger being signed and going straight into the first team. Then I would add a striker and defender as competition.

I would be happy with a left winger, Bowerman, Rees and a loan defender
