Does anyone know what these people are on about on the Facebook page? Here's some screenshots: http://gyazo.com/72374fdc45af55b476f629ad47d21288" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and http://gyazo.com/16048081e65596097f1eeedf80a1809b" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
According to the official Facebook feed, we had a youth team game there today which we "cancelled with only 24 hours notice due to PB's skin-flint ways meaning we were unable to field a full team." (According to the lady who hopes we reimburse them for their losses. ) I presume some of the lads are at Cirencester, instead.

Looks like the game was brought forward from next Saturday. SGEIG were hoping to raise funds from it - £3 admission, programme etc and it looks like they've advertised the game locally. Without knowing any more about the arrangements, pulling out 1 day before looks very poor.

Not our problem. We have had to nurse one charity case this past year, we don't need another. If the responses had been dignified, or even grammatically correct, I might have had a small degree of sympathy.
Surely we must have enough young lads to have fielded a team even taking out Kotwica, Williams, Hanks and Dale who were in Cirencester.
Could have even fielded Jamie Victory, Russell Milton and Chris Burns and anyone one else of the youth team staff that fancied a run around if numbers were short.
Sure we must of had our reasons for pulling out so late but with 24 hours notice it must be a really good reason to leave it so late

Maybe we were supposed to have a full squad for the Cirencester game, but due to the paucity of senior signings we had to take youth to boost numbers and hence cancel the St George game...?

Was going to mention that.cheltsaxon wrote:what sort of numbers were they hoping to get for our youth team when our first team have a friendly at same time??
There would have been no Cheltenham fans there!!

I think they were misleading their own fans by advertising they were playing 'Cheltenham Town' rather than 'Cheltenham Town Youth Team'.Pie wrote:Was going to mention that.cheltsaxon wrote:what sort of numbers were they hoping to get for our youth team when our first team have a friendly at same time??

Whatever the reason for us pulling out, it certainly doesn't show our club in a good light. These people obviously feel that there was some agreement between the two clubs and they have been let down. Perhaps someone who knows the full story can explain but incidents such as this do nothing to enhance the reputation of our club.

Rob, think you're missing the point.
Their fans seem to be under the impression that the first team were due to play the friendly and not the youth team.
Whilst I agree the way it seems to have been handled is not good in any way at all, the game was never going to raise thousands of £'s or get a travelling crowd of 200+

Maybe I'm not looking in the right places but where does it say they were expecting our first team? They were obviously given some sort of an impression that a Chelt team of some description was turning up or they would not have gone to the expense of having posters printed. How would we feel if a Prem Club said they would send a team for a friendly and let us down at the last minute after we had prepared for it? Still no info from CTFC as to whether there is any truth in the story.
