An opposition view ahead of Saturday's game. Apologies in advance if I'm overly biased. http://afcwimbledonblog.blogspot.co.uk/ ... n.html?m=1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

You'll have to excuse Daveangel he belongs to an ever decreasing set of fans who support Gloucester City, now maybe you have never heard of them, which would not surprise me as they play in an obscure league called the Skrill, but they share our football stadium and he posts on here because they do not have an active forum of their own.
And your the idiot that has nothing better to do with your time than come onto a forum of a team that you don't support.........Daveangel wrote:You'll have to excuse Malabus. He's the local village idiot, but there are plenty of bright Cheltenham fans and I'm sure one will be along in a minute

I haven't read the blog, but I'm actually confident we'll get a win tomorrow. Not sure why, just a feeling in my waters. We've a decent record against AFCW at Whaddon Road and our forwards are certainly in form. Maybe tomorrow is the day we have no silly little errors at the back.
I had a feeling in my waters we'd beat Torquay.
Thought Wimbledon were one of the better sides that we played last season, unlucky to be down the bottom really. They're my dark horse team for this season, wouldn't be surprised to see you in the play-offs or around there.
Just to clarify, when you say Jamie Cureton "hasn't really taken off", it's because he's been injured for most of the season.

Last 3 points as a single man?Si Robin wrote:Evening Dave.Daveangel wrote:No bright ones yet. Give it a minute.

Surprise surprise - once a change is made to the odd midfield line-up we go on to win. COYR
indeed, but I think it was more to do with Troy Brown's no nonsense defending. If in doubt, put it out. Being under pressure doesn't matter as it's stupid mistakes that have been giving goals away.RegencyCheltenhamSpa wrote:Surprise surprise - once a change is made to the odd midfield line-up we go on to win. Jamie Cureton has played 33 minutes with two goals.

I agree and a deserved man of the match for him today. I hadn't been impressed with what I'd seen of him before today, but today he kept it simple and as such no little errors were made. If he was pushed out to the side, he simply placed it out for a throw-in. His winning the ball in the air was brilliant as well.Shade wrote:indeed, but I think it was more to do with Troy Brown's no nonsense defending. If in doubt, put it out. Agree, yes it was not that pretty but for the first time this season at home we have done the basics well. We have not tried to over play and if it needed clearing we cleared it (only real wobble was back pass and one in first few minutes)Si Robin wrote:I agree and a deserved man of the match for him today. Some people were criticsing the "hoof" but actually if the ball is not in our half sometimes that is the best way of making progress in League 2 as you can always nick a goal when you haven't conceded!
Remain very unconvinced by Taylor though - the best things he did were off the ball! Not the tackling he was probably brought in for but a lot of shielding (and in once case flattening the opposition!

Agree Robin. I was thinking he was there to add steel and put his foot in but he was just so slow I dont think he barely made a tackle as he was so far off the pace! Luckily being so slow meant he was able to obstruct quite a lot of people!
Hopefully, we can kick on from here. You could see we grew in confidence as game went on and then got jittery once the penalty was overturned. It shows how fragile we are. Luckily...... Cureton does not suffer such issues and was so composed with the finish

Well played today. We weren't at our best going forwards, but you deserved your goal. Imo a draw would've been a fair result - but football is rarely fair! Enjoy your three points, and good luck for the rest of the season (until we meet again...)

Surprised you haven't talked more about Alan Bennet. He was superb for us and our loss is certainly your gain. Troy Brown isn't fit to lace Benno's boots.
Im sure Benno will be fired up for the game!
Thought he was very average and had to laugh when they began to chant "only one Alan Bennett".
How some can orgasm over a defender past his sell by date was beyond me.
Good when he arrived and very very average when he went. Even the Don's fans in the pub could see a difference of when he first arrived there.

18 against Burton, 11 against Torquay and 15 today.
Pity you pedantic-ness doesn't extend to adding injury time, because then it might make your posts in some way worthwhile...
+5 at Torquay
+6 today.
So 55 minutes...
