How does MY's start to the season compare to: GA, BG, KD, MA

Ok, 12 matches in - 12 points - But does anyone have the stats (points per match) for the starts of the following seasons to compare MY's start to our managers who have bitten the dust?

2002/03 - Graham Allner

2003/04 - Bobby Gould

2007/08 - Keith Downing

2008/09 - Martin Allen

Be interesting to know how good/bad Yates is fairing.

It's been a poor start (thou we're not as bad off as some "big clubs" in other division: eg - Sheff Weds, Bolton, Birmingham, Bristol City, Sheff Utd). However, 2 things are concerning my more than just our current league position:

1) We have conceded an average of 2 goals per match
2) We have conceded at least 2 goals in every home match bar 1

Those 2 stats alone point to a season-long battle against relegation if the team keep up those stats.

Rest of the month is "Crunch Month" for Yates.

Allner managed 23 points from 25 games before he was sacked on the 13 January 2003.

Bobby Gould took 15 points from 14 games before he resigned after the Rochdale game in October 2003.

Keith Downing was sacked following the 4-1 defeat away to Hartlepool in September 2008, having picked up just 3 points from the first 6 games.

Martin Allen Allen picked up 14 points from 13 games before he was placed on gardening leave in October 2009.

Cheers for the stats - when you look at those from our former managers, it's not looking promising for Yates - next 4/5 matches are crucial to his future.

But dont forget, Allner, Gould and Downing were all managing in League 1. Allen fudged it up in league 2 aswell.

Mattyboi - Gould did start managing in L1, but we were relegated in May 2003 - I was taking his stats from the (brief) stint he managed in L2 in 03/04 - the same with Allen - thou I got his dates wrong - should've been his brief season 09/10 in L2.

Gould did OK in league one (results wise) but was a disaster with his own team. Allner was a disaster because he didn't have his own team trying to play the football he wanted.

So if we lose or draw Tuesday Yates has started worse than Allen.

Yes, but in MA's season we started well and were right up the top of the league, won 3 out of the first 5 or something like that. So up to this point, technically this season has always been worse than that season - but with 2 wins in the last 4 games I'd say we have more hope than that season.

Perhaps, but that is theory and conjecture. Points on the board are what matter. Cureton could do a Wesolowski on Tuesday and hopes would be dashed in similar fashion.

Are you getting confused on your point? If we're talking points on the board we could have 15 points from 13 games tomorrow night and it will be better than that MA start, and there will be more hope.

No - my point was based on the first seven words I wrote in this thread: "So if we lose or draw Tuesday.."

I fully expect a victory.

Ok, makes more sense. But I still believe it's a completely different story as we have won games recently and we're not on a run of 2 or 3 points in 6 games like we were then.

You fully expect a victory against a side that have comeback from 3-0 down against Chesterfield and haven't lost in the league since the middle of August? I believe we can win, of course I do, but to fully expect it is setting yourself up to be disappointed.

I may end up so yes, but those are my expectations.
