I believe he's taking over James Brown role at the club.

He knows the club very well from his time with the Echo so a natural progression?

I noticed he said he was leaving and while I've heard nothing confirming he's taking over JB's role that's the solution that makes most sense. JP's a Cheltenham fan, I think he'd go for a position that will allow him to continue going to Cheltenham games home and away as a job-though one can't be sure.
Whoever replaces him at the Echo and online will have huge shoes to fill. Things like doing a web chat every Friday-will they be expected to keep that on or did JP do that off his own back? Will there still be regular interviews and reaction so soon after a game has finished?
Jon Palmer was one of a kind and I think underappreciated by a few. I always found it admirable how the media people associated with us-the likes of Jon, James Brown and Mark Halliwell are all Cheltenham fans. I imagine this isn't the case for a lot of clubs.
