Only 3 months and not in contention straight away as had no pre-season training but otherwise sounds promising.

Sounds promising I guess that's our Koby replacement and on a short term deal there is limited risk on both sides.

Nice. Could be a very good signing. Let's hope so.

What do we think, first appearance against Bristol City maybe?

What about that Canadian/Italian that played for us a few season back. Michael D'Agostino.

Franco Sperti (only played a few games before disappearing. Came from Swindon Town I believe)

I could also be argued that Carlo Rossi with his Italian sounding name but I believe he was a Brummy

Guiseppe Licata also from an Italian background

Of course he is how could I forget Guiseppe Licata. Local lad

My research has also led me to believe that there was a Cheltenham born Italian in the early 1900's from Charlton Kings who played for us.

I remember Franco Sperti, he played in 1973 or '74 if I recall but as you say he only played a few games for us.

Presume De Vita won't need a work permit then ?

De Vita could be a promising signing. I'd imagine he's been keeping fit so hopefully he doesn't take as long as Ashley Vincent to get match fit!
A good opportunity for us to look at him and for RDV to look at us before extending any deal

As he's Italian, no he won't. His last club was Bradford City so he won't need international clearance, either.

I may be missing something here; but don't we need someone who can put the ball into the net, preferably avoiding the keeper and the posts??

Partly, but also it's about chances. If a striker needs four golden chances to score one goal and you only create three it's not looking good. If you create eight then it's quids in.

Plus in 100 league starts in UK football he has 34 goals which isn't bad for a wide man.

Word I've had is that he has no physical presence, not the quickest, but a very good technical player who scores goals and gives 100%, sounds very promising.

Billy certainly did play for the club think it was late 1950's. Him and Bert Williams were the first faces I remember for my early days at football

On a slightly different note how many foreign (as in non-British) players have we had since we've been in the league now?
1) Rafa De Vita
2) Sido Jombati
3) Alan Bennett
4) JJ Melligan
5) Kayodi Odejayi
6) Graham Ward
7) Christian Brutschin
8) Bertrand Cozic

Any more?

Debated weather to include Lee Howells (born in Australia), Mey Elito (born in Kinshasa) Aaron Ledgister (born in Hong Kong) and Ian Stevens (born in Malta) but in Archie and Medy's case they represented England and Ledgister & Stevens is regarded as English having been raised here from an early age.

I swear Christian Brutschin never played for us? Wasn't he just a trialist?

No Bobby Ghoul signed him on a short term deal, maybe six months, but you are right he never started in the first team and mostly played in the reserves. I'm sure the Ghoul proudly declared he could hit the ball harder than anyone he had seen but neglected he had no pace and appeared better suited to Gloucester City standard football.

Two hoots do I not give. When moving freely through the civilised world the sacred words "Place of birth: Cheltenham" appears on his passport for waiting officials to admire.

Not if he were to be born in a hospital in the county today it wouldnt. It would say 'Gloucester'. No maternity services in Cheltenham General anymore.
