I am asking the fans of all the clubs involved in this years relegation fight on their thoughts of this weird coinncedence and if they think it has any significance or is just a pure coincendence.

In past seasons I have always said that new clubs, as in those promoted to the Football League since the introduction of automatic promotion/relegation from the Conference, have a disadvantage due to a lower fan base due to a shorter history and have seen Scarborough, Maidstone, Rushden & Diamonds, Macclesfield, Boston and Barnet all get relegated back into non-league.

However this season sees a new link one that involves a club rival's turmoil possibly have a knock on effect to their nearest rivals as all this season bottom clubs have seen a near town's football club fall foul of financial turmoil.

Hartlepool - Darlington
Tranmer - Chester
York - Scarborough
Cheltenham - Hereford

Even Carlisle have seen Gretna fall from grace just over the border

So is is a coincedence or does a rivals fortunes eventually have an effect on its closest rivals after all in south Greater Manchester both Macclesfield and Stockport Co have been relegated while the northern Greater Manchester clubs, Rochdale, Bury & Oldham survive
