In the games against exeter and barnet our stewards stopped our ball boys giving 'our' players a towel to wipe the ball (before a throw in) is this practice outlawed?

My understanding is it's allowed as long as it's available to both teams.

I believe the original instigator was the lad who played for Tranmere, who's name now escapes me.

fair enough but why did the stewards take the towel off him? (If its allowed for both teams)

I remember the first time we played against Challinor: whoever he was playing for got a throw-in midway inside our half and every single person in the Paddock was saying "Uh-oh...we know what's coming here..." Unfortunately, it appeared that nobody had pre-warned our defence as the ball was lobbed straight into the area and smacked into the back of the net with Mike Duff et al all stood in no man's land looking bewildered.
