About his level I would guess, decent lower league player if he can stay fit.

Good on him, he'll enjoy the Europa League. I didn't think he got a fair crack at it here last season.

Any chance of a JP feature to hear Dayts' thoughts on life?

I think he would have been offered a deal if Gary had faith he could play 40 games a season. Top player, but we cannot be carrying any passengers. The whole squad need to be fit and ready to serve.

Dayton is in my view a game changer. He needn't start all or indeed any games to do have an impact. A half-fit Dayton for 20 mins as a sub would be an asset in my view.

Aren't we lower league or am I missing something?

I rated him, just a couldn't stay fit however I don't think certain pitches helped & his lack of game time when fit didn't help with consistency.

What gives you the knowledge to judge the level of the Scottish Premiership,a typical arrogant English attitude.

Dayts had a number of chances to come on and make these "game changing cameos" last season, but he did not really produce one on them. He managed several in the National League but really made no impact in 2016-17 season.

Agree with these comments, vary rare that he turned games when he did come on

No, not always, but the point is that he did. We don't have many like that, I'm afraid. Players like him are the difference between a workmanlike League 2 side, and one that gets the pulses racing, especially at home. There always seem plenty on here who want to entertained. Then when the entertainers are moved on.......

he never quite displayed his obvious potential consistently enough, shame as Artemis said he was one of the very few from last season who could stir the crowd. Injury was an issue as well of course. good luck to him

I agree, injury disrupted his time with us, particularly last season and I guess the management call is that with a small squad, we can't afford fragile players.

The disproportionate amount of coverage it gets on BBC TV. And players like Marley Watkins.

Marley Watkins is at Premier League chasing Norwich now though, and has been doing well for a couple of seasons in the Championship.

Hasn't Watkins played one season at Championship level Shade? Spent most of his career in SPL/League one/non-league but definitely a success story along with Matt Smith.

Bottom half of the SPL is L1 at best.

My understanding of the Scottish football is that essentially Celtic are top end Championship/bottom of Premiership, Scotland and Aberdeen and maybe Hearts/Hib are Champ clubs the rest is league two/league one quality in the main.

About right.

The disproportionate coverage Scottish Football gets compared to EFL, Wales and Northern Ireland makes some people think it is better than it is.

Just because BBC final score announce updates from Scottish L2 and not the Conference, doesn't mean Stirling or Elgin are better than Tranmere.
