In Gary's post match interview he made the comment that we don't have anyone who can take a free kick like the Stevenage lad 'unless Morrel can do something like that -we'll have to find out'. Surely Gary, you should know whether
Morrel can do this? Wouldn't you make a point of finding out before hand? It just sounds a bit slapdash and desperate.
Sorry Gary - you're just doing this job from memory now. Another season of struggle beckons.

Agree that we must work on our free kicks, but all other aspects of our performance today - against a very good side - were very promising.

Glad someone mentioned this, it was on my mind at the match. Be it free kicks or corners, in my view our best passer, crosser is standing on the half way line as an onlooker!!! Would rather have winchester standing over the ball than storer or pel

I have to say our set pieces were very poor today and we do miss that play, unless Winchester can do it?

Was Stoz taking set pieces again? He can't pass during open play, so God knows why we persist with him taking free kicks and corners.

Didn't he score direct from a corner against Swansea u21s? Maybe that's given him a distorted confidence in his abilities at set pieces?

Was that what he was trying to do when he it a corner into the side netting vs West Ham. So poor.

I did wonder at the time if it was.

The one person who has shown the most creativity and most improvement in his cross-field passing is Jordan Cranston. He was regarded as a free kick specialist when he joined us, so I am at a loss to understand why he is not being given a chance with our set pieces now that his rate of improvement is surpassing many of his team mates.

Cranston, Dawson, Winchester - all ball players who could take a set piece better than hoof ballers.

I do notice that from corners we keep Cranston back as last man. This is presumably because he is the fastest in the squad which makes sense, but probably means we won't see him on corner duty any time soon.

yep we have him and Winchester holding the back line, while less talented crossers of the ball take the corners and free kicks, Not saying Pell should never take a free kick again, but some guile and variety is required
