I think the reasons are fairly obvious - we're not scoring and he's desperately trying everything to pull a goal out of somewhere. Is he doing too much? Probably.

Let us hope for a good win today and a few more and then threads like this can be put to bed.

I see heads are starting to roll. Gone are Managers at Port Vale and at Chesterfield. Would GJ's have been on the line if we had lost?

No. Don't think so, given PB's track record.

Vale couldn't beat FGR; sackable offence for any manager.

By the way for those who want GJ sacked look through the list of managers linked to Port Vale and Chesterfield as most will no doubt be linked to us, here those at short odds and tell me who you'd want here:
Martin Allen (favourite for Chesterfield)
Steven Pressley (ex-Coventry/Fleetwood)
Kevin Davies (Ex-Accrington)
Owen Coyle
Steve Cotterill (14-1 with both clubs but that seems far too short).
Justin Edinburgh
Ronnie Moore
Richard Money

Irrelevant Robin. We would get many applicants that do not include those names. My bet would be Ross Tokely.

Exactly, plenty of 'unknown' but capable and good managers out there; the job of football chairmen is to find them.

There are clearly exceptions but the vast majority of first time managers never work again and therefor become a significant gamble by any club.

Better a gamble than an over-the-hill multiple-failed 'name'.

Those multiple failures will all have had some success though hence getting repeated work.

My point is I don't see anyone out there who I would have any confidence can do better than GJ here. Of the list Richard Money, Steven Pressley and Justin Edinburgh are the only three I'd even consider and I'd hardly be those about either.

Maybe no one on that list, but the Board may find someone you haven't heard of or know very little about who would do a great job.

If you are an expert on every manager out there I would be very surprised.

Of course but you make that sound so simple, of course you get a Steve Cotterill, Eddie Howe type but for each of them there are ten abject failures.

None of you want Cotterill back? I'd have thought you'd be lucky to get him. As a visiting Bristol City fan, I think he did a great job getting us to the Championship and was unlucky it didn't work out the following season.

I think we'd all have him back in a heart-beat - we're just realistic enough to know that ain't gonna happen.

He's been out of work a long time now, apart from the brief Brum stint.

He's been out of work because he's been rejecting lower league clubs, he clearly wants an ambitious league one side who he can take up and compete in the Championship with.

Note when he was at Brum they survived against the odds, winning three of the last four. He didn't stay with them for the season and they have been awful and sacked Harry.

With current hindsight it looks as if out sentiments were wrong but the waste of July and August put us at the bottom and the Manager accepted blame.Since then good players have come in and square pegs rounded off . Where would we have been without the West Ham game money? Probably not on cloud nine

I hope we don't have to have this conversation again for a long time. While our recent form has been good it will only take a couple of lapses for us to be back in the danger zone. At this point it's normal that the vultures would start circling again.

Maybe Gary knew what he was doing waiting a bit longer, not diving in and paying top dollar for mediocre players at the height of the transfer scramble.

Eaxctly. He couldn't have gotten the players he got in late August any earlier, and there's no guarantee that players snapped up early are going to perform. Sometimes you've just got to be patient. Unfortunately, everyone seems to be forgetting how to be patient.

It's perfectly legitimate to question the abilities of the manager when, following the season where we only just avoided relegation, we find ourselves flirting with it again. It would seem strange if fans didn't have doubts. I'm glad that results have improved and long may it continue. It's what we all want after all.
