Be great to see him develop and challenge the first team incumbents.

Maybe when we are mathematically safe we can give him a run alongside Boyle instead of the loans.

Hopefully this signals the intent to actually USE him in the matchday squad rather than a tool for warming up by hoofing the ball to the others.

We'll use him when he is one of the best two in a squad good enough to achieve what we want it to.

Currently he can't get in a team which is average-to-poor and below where we want it to be.

Grimes isn’t one of the best two and he plays every week....

This is positive and hopefully the first of a few to sign new deals so we can be aggressive in the transfer market this summer with the few missing pieces of the jigsaw in order to compete in the top half. Specifically Winchester and Boyle need to follow please!

As for Bower the lad is 19, people need to be patient he's been in and around the first team all season and hopefully will be starting games for us next season along with Forster, Boyle and an experienced centre half that's a decent combination.

Well we have been playing five at the back with Forster injured.

I would personally play four at the back, Forster and Boyle, when both fit.

The defence has been awful this season and the lad deserves a chance, maybe if we get dicked on Saturday it might be worth a go to try something different in future games (Yes next 5 games are awful) but it's a squad game and he's been on the bench all season so they obviously think he can do the business, I hope he gets a run in the side.

What does Downes do theres a wasted wage

With all the loans and injuries how often has GJ played the same defence line up

He's 19 and been in around the first team all season he's doing very well to be where he is, if he plays a handful of games this season and becomes more regular next season I'll be happy.

GJ has chopped and changed the defence a lot the consistent has been Grimes who probably been our worst defender. If you add in Taylor Moore who's had a few shockers there's probably not much Downes can do.

Pete Johnson is chief scout, Downes and Milton do the coaching I believe.

The position we're in at the minute...Bower comes in, we lose another game or two and half of the people on here, some that are calling for him to be played, will be saying it's too soon, he's not good enough, why is Johnson relying on youth players, etc.

He wasnt that good in the reserve match played as CB
outjumped and didnt win any headers when challenging
slow getting back
Definitely not ready but will improve as he matures
