the lack of specialist full backs defies logicm we must address this in the summer

Agree with Nesty's analysis. But it goes further than that. We need also to recruit both a strong, experienced, central defender to partner and mentor Will Boyle, and an experienced 'destroyer' in midfield. Characters similar, in recent years, to Steve Elliott and Kyle Storer, but a little better. And I know this won't happen, because of the apparent attacking philosophy Gary Johnson has, but game management at times needs a stronger defensive bias - that is to defend a lead or draw situation rather than to gamble on scoring another goal.

But saying that, how many 0-0, 0-1 or 1-1 games have we had where putting the ball in the net as been the problem?
Not just the number of goals but how they are spread out. No use scoring three past Morecambe if you record zero vs Newport and Carlisle. 1-0, 1-0 and 1-1 would have got three more points than 3-0, 0-0 and 0-1.
Same way Crewe have scored fewer goals than us and conceded more yet have more wins and are a point behind.

I feel we've had several weak links at the back with Flatt, Taylor Moore and Grimes probably our weakest players this season that tells it's own story. Also we had to play Winchester (our best attacking midfielder) there for a period.

Mo of course. That is unless you think that anyone (guessing) around 6' is of large build? He is too small a build to be playing long balls too. Morre muscular defenders invaribly come out high on the percentages of winning a heading battle. ceetainly seems to be the case on the matches I have watched. He doesn't win many headers.
