TOM SMITH.Absolouteley gutted as a swindon supporter that Tom has joined Cheltenham.Local swindon boy who was not given a full crack of the whip at the county ground.Cheltenham have had a right steal !!!!He is a great asset and will go on to play at least championship level.Fair play to Gary Johnson for snapping him up !!!my prediction he will be your player of the season next year.

Heard good things about this lad from Swindon fans I know, apparently we were in for him as well but he chose Cheltenham instead.

Johnson's building a good side by the looks of things.

Let's hope all the fools that brought dinosaurs to the Crewe game demanding "Johnson out", and all the similar fools on here that have done the same this season, or longer, are man enough to admit they were wrong about GJ if this does turn out to be the case.

I can't say I will be holding my breath though.

I'm certainly optimistic of a much better season, pretty clear GJ will need at least a top half finish to keep his job. As for those who wanted him out, most of them were very young and the only success they've probably experienced was the conference winning season so they probably expect that all the time.

They were clearly demostrating that Johnsons tactics and general management skills were prehistoric, a domonsteation im not in favour of. I believe it makes matters worse if a player or in this case ithe manager is verbally abused and embarrassed by those doing the barracking. That was clearly the case as Johnson didnt even come to the away supporters at the final whistle to applaud the travelling fans, and thats a shame for those supporters who have faith in Gary Johnson.

My main point to all this is that Im not a great lover of the manager, the football has been very poor over these two last seasons tactics and signings have been of a poor standard, and im sure he hasnt heard of the right back position, i believe the last player who was a genuine right back who took to the field for us was Bartram ? and Johnson didnt like him lol. This is a forum and a forum is for voicing opinions and in this forum its our personal feelings on CTFC issues. I do not appreciate being called a fool by you Johnsons Red Army, i have an opinion as do you, but i do not go around calling you a fool because you believe differently to I.

Finally on the quiet im very happy with Johnsons signings to date, experience and age are ideal, and not shedloads of young inexperienced loanees, but still not a mention of a genuine right back, plus if we eventually sign one we need cover as well, and not a square peg in a round hole. If there is an improvement in our performances and results then i will be chuffed as any supporter, but I will still believe that the last two seasons have been well below par

Forster looked very good when he played at right back. Fingers crossed he’s fully recovered from the achilles issue. We do need another specialised right back, though.

Well said Shevates. I've been as critical of Johnson as anybody but team selection has been random and tactics non-existent. I'm critical because I want Cheltenham to do well. The jury is still out as far as I am concerned. Johnson has been poor for two years.

I disagree, Forster looked very sluggish at right back - he started to look much better when played in his favoured position of centre-back. If we play with 3 at the back then he, Boyle and Mullins will be very good. If we play with 4 at the back, then it should be a straight shootout between Boyle and Forster to see who partners Mullins.

A specialist right back/wing back is an absolute necessity this summer.

Nice speech, but it doesn't change the content of my post, i.e. if the team does turn out to be a good side and we do well next year, that those who were calling for Johnson to be sacked were foolish in doing so, in my opinion.

IF, IF, IF, no facts what so ever. Those fans demonstrated their frustrations as they had witnessed two seasons of poor performances and results, simple as that. Do you seriously believe we have played well ?. Im not defending those supporters for there actions at Crewe one bit, but a large minority of them travel to every away and game regardless how we play get behind the team, they spend a lot of money following CTFC during the season. Finally if we have a great start to the season, those fans im sure will be behind Johnson as will I, but as in your words IF lol

I have been critical of GJ in the past - and rightly so IMHO, results have been poor particularly at home. However so far new signings seem to be good and I am optimistic. Final however - we need a right back and not a make do. I am sure GJ also realises we need a decent target man

Do we need a target man, I'd argue that's Grahams role and he's rumoured to be one of our highest earners.

numerically we need another 2-3 strikers/front men, we have only Eisa, Graham and Lloyd

I agree we need at least one striker, ideally a powerful player like Akinde to replace Danny Wright. Also heard we may be looking at another non-league prospect so 1-2 new strikers and a right back sounds about right.

From what I'ver seen if him last season he goes wide for the ball and cuts in, don't know if that's his natural game ? Can't see him as a big old no. 9 though.

Not a fan of GJ but the signings look interesting ON PAPER. Lets see how it all gels together when the season gets going. If by january we look similair to last year though he simply has to walk. The football has been so bad for so long, its honestly painful going to games (ill always buy a season ticket. but i often think just how badly i ACTUALLY want to go to the game)

Excited for the next season. Lets hope a few more signings build on the "momentum" of confidence between fans

In fairness it's odd with Smith he looked fine in pre-season but cannot get a game a sniff since then even on the bench. As he's young I don't mind this loan but I do hope he can return and compete in our first eleven.

I think January will see him sign permanently for Bath

You'd imagine that's a possibility Nesty but may need us to pay him a severance I highly doubt Bath could offer anywhere near the wages we do.
