It's the timing and manner that PB is saying we're crass, not the action itself.
Immediately after an away game that like is poor, particularly with the announcement then as well.
At least wait until the following morning to swing the axe and let everyone know. That would have a bit more class.

Maybe they were hoping that by sacking him there and then on a bus in Cumbria the kids chanting on the terraces would write positive twitter and facebook posts on the way home rather than negative ones.Artemis wrote:It's the timing and manner that PB is saying we're crass, not the action itself.

I don’t think it was a spur of the moment decision. It would appear that whole Board was there for a reason. None of us know what was said to Gary before the game, except for RCS of course because I expect he gets invited to all the Board meetings.Artemis wrote:It's the timing and manner that PB is saying we're crass, not the action itself.

It was released on the Saturday morning (the Hartlepool game being a Friday evening) that he'd gone, not sure if he was sacked immediately after the game though.Red Duke wrote:Didn't Keith Downing get the sack just after the Hartlepool match?
Graham Allner was arguably the best one - sacked after an impromptu board meeting following the game against Tranmere being postponed a couple of hours before kick off.
There’s never a good time to tell someone they haven’t a job to go to the next day, especially when that person has generally gained a lot of respect over their period of employment. We have never been a ‘hire Em and fire em’ club and I’m sure the Board would have liked us to be in a position where We had three wins from three league games and not had to perform this task. He could have been given more time but that would be a gamble and could have seen us in a more precarious position with people saying he should have gone after three games. There are no winners at this stage.

Only basing my comments on the information in the public domain which you have just as much access to.Alf wrote:I don’t think it was a spur of the moment decision. So what happened with GJ, also happened when PB was chairman. So nothing new then, there is form when it comes to this with CTFC.Si Robin wrote:It was released on the Saturday morning (the Hartlepool game being a Friday evening) that he'd gone, not sure if he was sacked immediately after the game though.Red Duke wrote:Didn't Keith Downing get the sack just after the Hartlepool match?

" Former" is the important word describing Mr Baker and his relevance to the Board. Move on and leave it to the new people.
According to companies house PB resigned as a director on 8th May https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/comp ... 7/officers" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;Nesty wrote:Move on - exactly. At least AW had the BALLS to do what PB should have done in the Summer
so definitely a new chairman issue
maybe I should have said "in the close season / end of last season"andgarod wrote:According to companies house PB resigned as a director on 8th May https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/comp ... 7/officers" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;Nesty wrote:Move on - exactly. Here's Lee Johnson's take. https://www.gloucestershirelive.co.uk/s ... am-1933000" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This crass and classless reputation is going to be hard to shred.

Interesting post article comment on Lee's assessment in 'gloslive...'. Whilst agreeing the timing was poor I do believe his recruitment over the last couple of years has been disappointing, to put it mildly. Before a few jump - there have been a few gems too!
Add in the "hacked tweets" the clubs official twitter account has apparently suffered (one replying to Lee Johnson's comments that basically mock him and Gary for havng a total of 9 wins between them since Christmas) and it's not been the best week for our club. Let's all just hope that changes today.

"They are always having to beg, borrow and steal to get the best players in. If you look at dad's record, he got them promoted out of the Conference and kept them in the division twice, steadily improving year on year.
"He effectively put some real money in the coffers by signing Mo Eisa from four or five leagues below. Him playing that well and then a big club like us coming in to sign him and paying big money for him.
Lee Johnson's comments from Gloslive
There's no denying what a terrific feat it was to get us back after only the one season. But let's be clear about the "steadily improving" bit. We were where we were solely because we were fortunate enough to benefit from a couple of other teams being more sh*t than us!
As for a "big club like us coming in"? Leeds are a big club, Wolves, Man City, Man U, Liverpool, Spurs, Forest, Arsenal, Villa..............even Sunderland FFS.................
