what a midfield we would have!!
Got me thinking, what would be our best team of all ex players that are still plying their trade in the League

Using the conventional 4-4-2 nomenclature, with a few gaps:

Butland

RB?
Keogh
CB?
Garbutt

Wes Burns
Pack
CM?
Watkins

Mo
CF?

I was thinking permanent signings, not loans

Do we even have eleven permanent ex-players playing in the league? Most tend to drop to Conference or lower when leaving us. I can think of ten if making a 4-4-2:

Brown
Sido
Lowe
Grimes
Andrew

McGlashan
Summerfield
Pack
Watkins

Mo Eisa
??? (Graham or Duffy if Scotland counts).

Barely any.

The way I see it out squads go in cycles. The pinnacle was Ward’s side in L1. Then a few years of decline. Then another peak with Yates Wembley squad. Then decline to relegation. Currently on an upward trend of the cycle with the best League squad since Marlon’s last match vs Northampton.

Most of the ex players still playing are from the low ebb between that play off semi final defeat and January 2016.

Speaking of Wes Thomas, got a nice red card from Grimsby yesterday after kung fu kicking an opponent.
