Trimming that down into players that I predict will be here at the end of January shows that we clearly need some players in, especially that forward line. I would imagine we'll keep hold of Barnett and possibly Jones who seems to have worked hard at redeeming himself after some disappointing performances. Maddox obviously here for the season. Don't expect Field or Mooney to be kept on.

Interesting that we have some players due to end their time here in January like Mooney, Barnett and Jones with others out on loan due to return in January like Lloyd, Duku and McAlinden.

Financially I suspect it is better for us to return the three we have in and recall the three we have out. But might not produce better quality.

The other thing is of course that between them, Barnett (3), Jones (2), Mooney and Clements (both 1) have scored almost a third of our League goals (7 out of 22). So if they do leave, whoever comes in has to make up for that.

Plus, Jones’ goals have gained us three points (one winner, one in a draw) as have Barnett’s. So not only have they scored a chunk of our goals, if we hadn’t scored when they did we would be bottom so they are important goals.

I would keep both Barnett and Jones, and recall one of Duku or Lloyd to replace Mooney.

I said it before but huge upheaval is not what we need, just add 3-4 quality players who can improve the team and release 5-6 to balance the books.

I expect Jones, Alcock, Field, Clements, Mooney and Baldwin to all go. So then add a striker, bring Manny back, sign a couple of central midfielders and we should be fine.

Not forgetting that although Maddox is on a full season loan, it is likely that that included a clause to be able to recall him in January window if they see any reason to want to.

Could only see Maddox being recalled if the player himself is very unhappy here.

I didn't think a player could be recalled at all if he was on a season-long loan?

“Players on a season-long loan can be recalled by parent clubs in the January transfer window but only if the two clubs have agreed a recall clause in advance.

A loan deal can be cancelled at any time in the season if both clubs concerned agree.”

Maddox isn't on a season long loan, I don't know where people have got that from.

“We had a conversation with Chelsea and I’m pleased that they have allowed Jacob to come here on loan until January, with the aim for him to stay the whole season."

With GJ and Pete gone, they may reassess. I'd still expect him to stay for the season though.

The Chelsea web site reported it as a season long loan Shade at the time.

OTC, can you write to Roman Abramovich and clear this up once and for all?
