I met Nevada Phillips at a lower division game in Barbados yesterday
I must say he did not look as if he was over 60.

Anyway, anyone on here old enough to remember him playing for Cheltenham? 1974-5, I am told.
I would imagine, as a Barbadian, he would have been unusual in the Southern League at the time.

I remember him. Was he at Reading before? He didn't play for long but was good. I must dust off my programme boxes.

Yes I remember Nevada. Dennis Allen our manager then had strong Reading connections and I'm sure he would have signed him.
Don't think he stayed long though.

Yes, he told me he had played for Reading as well.

When I tried to google the name, I got a Minor Counties Cricketer, playing for Berkshire.
I am guessing they are one and the same.

Yes it appears so. Also saw a post on a Reading FC forum which mentioned he scored a couple of goals in a local Reading cup match from 2009 when he was 52 !

Nevada was in the Reading team photo for the 1973/74 season.

Another player in the pic was Tony Wagstaff who also played for us in '74/75, he was a quality experienced midfielder but moved on during that season, we missed him big time after he went.

Ray Dean the big centre half was another we had from Reading in the Dennis Allen era.
