Results elsewhere not too bad. Going to have a few more losses this season. On to the next one.

One of those where we didn't deserve to lose, but also didn't deserve to win.

Soft penalty, but we got a soft one against Yeovil so swings and roundabouts. Great header off the line by Connolly from Tozer's header. Great to see Broom back on the right in the second half. We were more threatening when he came on.

Really do need to do better in the final third as we played well when on the ball but just couldn't find that telling pass.

Nonetheless, it was disappointing that we didn't get at least a point. On recent form, Crawley were there for the taking and, to me, it looked an eminently winnable game. That said, you can't take any opposition for granted - look at Notts County at Colchester today.

Mike Duff says after the game no money to go and get anymore players. Tyrone Barnett though extended to end of the season.

A possible achilles tendon injury. Whether it’s snapped (very serious, 1 year out) or badly bruised (unlikely, as there was no contact with another player), we may not see Nigel playing again for a while. We seem to be unlucky with this type of injury: Hall, Forster and possibly Nigel now, too.

If Nige is out for the season we need a quality replacement as priority along with a striker.

Nasty injury for Nige.

Crawleys time wasting at the corner flag was a disgrace near the end of the game. Worst i've seen in a long time

Not that we'd do exactly the same when 1-0 up to waste a few seconds. And if we didn't accusations of non-league / naiveity would be flying.

Robin, I just read the script of that interview and I cannot see where he said there is no money to get any more players in. So I read it again thinking I must have missed it. No still can't see it. Maybe you can enlighten me.

I listened to it Mo, it was on the Radio. The only thing which wasn't immediately clear to me was whether he meant no money to replace Nige or no money for any signings as I had the impression there were irons in the fire and no money beyond that. He also said no new players likely before Tranmere.

How long does Nige have left on his contract? if it’s as bad as some fear, that may well have been his last game for CTFC

With Barnett staying it is unlikely the new striker we need is coming, unless we get lucky with a loan.

There was an experienced FL striker, currently without a club, in the away end today. Whether he is a potential signing or there supporting an ex team mate was unclear.

I would imagine we will look to bring in at least another centre mid and striker.

I must admit to being dissapointed with the result today. I was surprised to see Maddox go straight back in he's not necessarily a bad player but we look a lot more of a cohesive team without him and havent really missed him in the last month or so. For an attacking midfielder his goal and assist stats are poor.

Could you give us more of a clue here Tonga, is said player clearly an ex-team mate of one of our players?

... or failing that, just tell us who it was?

Given that he was there, it's clearly not a secret, so I don't see the problem naming him?

I assume you are referring to the following:

"Potentially as Nigel is a big part of what we do and he gives us good energy and physicality in the middle of the pitch. It's something we might need to revisit, but there are constraints of budgets and it's not as easy as saying 'we need another midfielder, go and get one'. It may affect somewhere else we need to strengthen, so that's the balancing act of where we are at, of can we afford to go and get someone else in. Potentially not."

This absolutely does not read as stating that there is "no money to go and get anymore players". It seems pretty clear to me that there is a limited budget and prioritisation has to occur.

I feel a little uneasy in putting it out there if the club are working hard in bringing him in and keeping it under wraps.

Would be a very good signing in my opinion and I’d imagine a high earner, which is why the more I think about it, the more likely it is that they were supporting an ex team mate, of which one of our starters definitely was.

If he's fit he plays (it seems) although Duff says there isnt but I should imagine that is a demand from chelsea and part of the loan contract.

That's fair Tonga but I do find it strange why any new signing would watch the game from the away end and the manager then say no new signings expected for Tranmere which is a week away. Also find it strange said player is a free agent in January as it either means they've been without a club all season or just been released so quite a narrow pool to pick from!

I've done some digging and the only realistic players I could find who are strikers with experience and without a club are Jay Simpson (was playing in US), Gabby Agbonlohar, or Ishmael Miller (who I understand is close to signing for Tranmere following release by Oldham). I think Gabby has some relation with out chairman but I don't see a link with our players. Miller may have played at Yeovil same time as Dawson and Tozer.

The only other out of contract strikers are Nile Ranger (no chance we touch him), Darren Bent (well out of our price range) and Jay Emmanuel-Thomas (been out of contract since summer so we could have signed him anytime).

Does it really matter. Someone, who has played football, came to watch a football match and chose to go in the away end.

:) ;)

My understanding is that he isn’t a viable target so can confirm that it was Jay Simpson. Well worked out Robin! I presume he was there to support Atangana who he played with at Orient. He left pretty soon after the injury.

Top scorer (or thereabouts) in L2 a couple of years ago but having looked on Football Manager (which I appreciate isn’t gospel but a pretty good barometer) they had him down as being in around £10k a week in the USA so I imagine way out of our wage structure.
