Interesting video showing the highest paid player at each league 2 club. Well worth a watch

Sounds like balls to me that someone knows the highest earners at every club. They seem to believe Mullins and Dawson are our highest earners on £1500 a week they then state Crawley are paying Morais £2500 a week!!

£1500 a week/£78k a year sounds about right to me but how Crawley could be paying that much...

odd video in that only occasionally they state the wage. Feels like someone got FIFA or championship manager and just took the wages stated in the games.

This is for last season, suggesting our average wage during 2017/18 was £789 p/w. This was the 5th lowest in L2.

The clubs do not have to release the figures, so the figures are not released. The closest I can find is here

Jon Palmer said our wage budget this year was creeping into the top half. Last season it was described as mid-table so the link from RCS sounds balls too.

I could believe we have some players on £1500 a week though but I doubt the average is anywhere near that.

Given that most clubs don’t release the figures, even if JP knows what our unpublished figures are I don’t see how he would know how it compares to other clubs who don’t release their figures either.

I hope those who read this nonsense never watch adverts on TV. Or read Genesis 1. Because if you believe everything you see, , especially from unknown sources, you’ll think your hair will grow back, you’ll have a whiter smile, and snakes persuade women to eat fruit

The clubs are furnished with a document that explains where they are in terms of the rest of the League (this came out of one of the fan forums).

Therefore, whilst he may not know the figures, it's likely he knows where we are in terms of the rest of League 2 if someone from the club has told him.

Yes I remember Paul Godfrey stated this that we were in a similar bracket to a big chunk of clubs with a few miles above the rest and a few much lower than the other (presumably Accrington/Morecambe etc).

All I can go on is I know for a fact that one of our top players was earning £75k a year in 2012, so as I said, I can imagine our top players now are on £1.5k per week/£78k per year. But for every player on that high a wage I'd think we'd have to have a few that are on a pittance by comparison. Hopefully Thomas...

£1500 for higher earners sounds reasonable to me Shade but as you say there will equally be younger players (probably Lovett, Bower, Lloyd and Smith) earning much lower than that.

I was told a couple of weeks ago that most FGR players are on £4K a week

If it wasn't for Thomas's penalties we'd be about 8 points worse off. No one else in our squad seems capable of converting one.

Going back when we were in League One 10 to 12 years ago some players were allegedly on £100,000k a year.

Unless we can get crowds back up to 4,000 we ain't gonna be able to pay better wages for some time.

We don't want to be paying anywhere near £75k for a specialist penalty taker though, do we? He does some things well but generally he feels like a bit of a liability.

Most? Surely not?! I can imagine they're paying something like that for a few of them...But then, given their usual losses it wouldn't surprise me...

I find that totally unrealistic. I had heard wages their are much more reasonable but bolstered heavily by incentives to inflate wages and get around FFP rules. I'd be surprised if there were many contracted players (i.e. not loans) that are earning £4k a week in league two. Even Lincoln who have one of the bigger budgets are rumoured to have a £3k per week wage cap.
