Good first half, eh. Everyone's been decent but Raglan has been exceptional. His ball winning and a couple of crosses, top drawer. Never seen a more stonewall penalty either. Great ball from Tillson out to Waters to run through. Don't know what was happening with the Nptts fans - looked like they were fighting each other to start with and then carried on with the stewards. No doubt they'll be bitching about our stewards provoking them.
To top it off, Morecambe 2 up v FGR. 45 mins from only being 9 points behind them

We have very definitely improved under duff, the players were there and he’s put a bit of structure into the play.
I’m not being mean spirited as I am a positive soul, but does anyone else think the standard this year, of other teams, is worse then previous years? Notts county were truly abysmal

Not particularly. I think a few sides have tried to play a style of football that their players aren't good enough for, maybe, which is the managers fault. But then I'd say Bury were one of the best teams that have come to WR for a couple of years, but we battled hard and got a point, so it's a mix of tenacity from us and some sides not showing their full potential.Ben3 wrote:We have very definitely improved under duff, the players were there and he’s put a bit of structure into the play.

Who would have thought we'd have 1 defeat in 17 games at home in late October?
About as easy a win as you can expect at this level, I don't think Notts County had a shot on target other than the penalty. Feel a bit for their fans because they look like they need a miracle to avoid the drop.
As for our lot, good effort all round Tozer was very good at the back, Waters ran himself into the ground, Clements looked good but Varney was my man of the match.

Notts didn't look like a team that needed the points, very slow from the off and offered nothing in the entire game, I presume Notts would have targeted us as a game to take points. The players didn't look remotely interested in the fight and I should imagine agents have got moves set up for their 'better' players.
What was the cause off all the fighting in the Notts end?

Yes indeed, it put the cream on top of a great day after hearing The Old TomCat’s heroes have started to come apart, just as we predicted would happen.Shade wrote: ...

Cooperman refused to do the Press Call after FGR’s Morecambe defeat (and faces a fine) amid strong rumours about serious backroom issues at FGR. We are now on course to deservedly remain Gloucestershire’s Finest. Watch out OTC, the “numbskull’s” are coming for you - just as we did in 2015/16
Well done Mr Duff and the Team today, you did us proud. Now for a top half finish.

Some info here. Didn't think it was anything to do with our players but hey, it's the Sun. https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football ... heltenham/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;longmover wrote:

Doesn't this show you the idiocy of OTC? Under Cooper we are always only a few games from things going badly wrong. As ever, he will creep over the line and Dale Vince will go spending again. With time Vince may ask why a team that was in the playoff places could be unmotivated.Lord Elpuz wrote:Yes indeed, it put the cream on top of a great day after hearing The Old TomCat’s heroes have started to come apart, just as we predicted would happen.Shade wrote: ...

A steward told me that it all kicked off when they tried to grab a CTFC player and a steward jumped in to stop it. This then caused a melee and you could see the rest.
Regarding yesterday's game, as good as we were Notts were dreadful. The last time I saw a team that poor and lacking in any urgency was when we got relegated in 14/15.

I noticed a few morons trying to grab Ryan Broom a few minutes before the first goal when he chased a long ball which went behind. They were a motley crew all game until they walked out after the third goal.
Agree. Sometimes we seem more obsessed with FGR than with our own club.Nesty wrote:well said.Ralph wrote:Ok, lets not talk about FGR in this thread. This is CTFC v Notts County only. If you want to start one on FGR, feel free.
Gets a bit tedious.
I’m looking forward to getting into the play offs!

The joys of lower league football. I think we may have been there.longmover wrote:From the other end

Cheerio, I’ll look out for your blog from Gateshead.
interesting comment on that video:
"car keys i have 1 day ago
I'm a Swindon fan but my uncle supports Notts so he took me to the away end and that Cheltenham penalty was never a penalty"
Most stonewall penalty I've ever seen. Is was quite funny seeing their guy run over afterwards and try to tell the referee that Mackail-Smith got the ball
Also, where were these 2 hand balls that the kid reckons they never got? And Varney and Waters winding their fans up? Only saw Boyle turn to them and give them some.

Obsessed. This thread is about Cheltenham vs Notts not FGR.Ralph wrote:Only 9 pts behind FGR and if they lose away to Colchester (Tues) and we beat Newport on Fri, it's down to 6 and i can see us overtaking them
Notts have a horrible run in for the rest of the season. Play most games against teams in the top half
