Former players

Watching L1 play-off, Doncaster vs Charlton. Two observations - Dylan Phillips is one heck of a keeper, and Danny Andrew still has a wicked shot on him. He's also looking a half decent left-back.

I was in the minority in thinking Andrew was a decent player when he was here

All the players thought he was good, too - in Q&A sessions, they'd regularly pick Danny as the 'most technically gifted' player in the squad.

Scarily poor LB in a flat back four, I thought - but I did think he might make a decent wing-back or even a left-sided midfield.

As many said at the time, his attitude was a problem. He no doubt has grown up since then.

Was it against Barnet in an EFL trophy game that he had an absolute shocker, with Yates hauling him off? He most definitely didn't look a decent left back that night. Maybe maturity and coaching has brought the best out of him.

Winchester sent off v Tranmere in EFL Play Off semi. Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy ;)

Love it! If they lose now he’s gonna get some stick! What a liability

....Danny Andrew moves to Fleetwood.

A very honest article here from Grant McCann revealing what probably happens at most clubs.

Credit to Grant McCann and I would avoid anyone signed to that agent.

Danny Andrew was superb when he came to City. Its not a given that a player at two levels above will shine when dropping into our league there have been plenty of stinkers. But Danny had a great attitude, he wanted to prove people wrong and get back into the league and earn a living from football, which he ultimately did.

No attitude problem from him at City, and a nice lad (and family) as well.

And what a replacement we had in Billy Jones!

Leaving us seemed to be the kick up the backside he needed, realised that if he didn't get his head down and do as he was told he could be looking at a non-league future. Shame his agent appears to be worse than he ever was.

.... probably not the type of midfielder we need, but Joe Morrell has joined Lincoln on loan.

Would have loved Joe Morrell back here, he's far better than any of our three existing midfielders (none of which should be starting regularly if we are to challenge for promotion in my opinion).

We need a couple of steels in midfield and, if Dawson does indeed not come back, at least one more attacking midfielder.

I may be wrong and he’ll sign someone (we’re due a few loans, surely!), but I think broom will end up playing in the Dawson role

Going back to the sixties here, but does anyone else remember Larry Baxter.
My recollection of him is as a Stanley Mathews type of player who was the king of dribble.

Can’t believe he’s still at Everton. He’s 26.

He's entering the last season of the most recent 5 year deal he signed.

Can't believe that a) no-one has taken a punt on him full-time and b) Everton haven't tried to get rid of him as he clearly has no future there.

He must have a very lucrative contract that runs out in 2020. If he permanently moves to another club, it would involve a huge pay cut and so wants to maximise the money he gets from Everton before moving on.

I thought he had joined Oxford permanently but agree it must be a case of him sitting on a lucrative contract at Everton which will be far higher than league one wages - which appears to be his footballing level.

Very impressed with Cameron Pring & Elijah Adebayo watching them against a very good Villa side on Wednesday.
