Still early days but I'm confident of at least making the top seven again, hopefully we go one better this year.

Much the same after today, still second favourites sandwiching Salford and FGR. Although odds currently unavailable at most bookies.

Oddschecker now have us joint favourites at 13-2 to win league two outright. Have we ever been favourites to win the league in October? Clearly we are heavily fancied this season.

Good spot. It has been updated. 7/4 now the best odds with Bet Victor, joint with Salford.

Maybe we were favourites in a October in the Champions season as it was around that time that people on here started calling the title, if I recall.

I'm not sure I'd see us winning the league - it's a marathon and we don't have the resources a few of the bankrolled teams do - but I'd snatch your hand off now for third place and I do feel we have a realistic chance of achieving it this season.

On a different note apparently Salford want either the Cowley's or Paul Cook to take over, they are really going for it this season.

Just checking oddschecker.

The longest odds on CTFC to be promoted are 11/8 (BV) and 6/1 the title (888bet). Second fav behind Newport who can be had at 11/10 and 5/1 best.

Most bookies have us at 6/5 to go up. Interestingly the exchange market has us as short as 4/7.

Oh ! The irony if we get promoted with no crowds for the season , it will be like supporting Man. Utd. and never having seen them live ?

CTFC and Newport joint favourites for the title now. Best odds available for both is 4/1.

Salford next at 6/1.

For promotion, the bookies have CTFC and Newport odds on. The best(!) available is 10/11.

Saw some predicted table in an online local rag to Salford and Bolton last night, done by some stattos who believe Salford will win the division, us 2nd, Exeter 3rd. Newport and Cambridge finishing in the play-offs.

If I had to bet I would say both Bolton and Salford will be there or there abouts come the end. Salford squad is very strong and I expect them to improve as the season progresses.

I do also feel we can and hopefully will finish in the top three along with Exeter. Play offs I'd go Cambridge/Carlisle/Bolton/Newport at this moment. FGR and Tranmere just missing out.

Would be interesting to know how much money is gambled on the L2 outcome. Irrespective of that, Newport on the drift while we shorten

Although we have one drifted out to evens for promotion. Still 4/1 to win it.

In suspect not much money is bet, seeing how easily the market seems to sway.

Be great to see Vince splash out on more mercenaries. No doubt Cooper will fall out with them, they’ll take up drinking with Winchester and it will be step closer to Vince deciding to stop throwing good money after bad.

Tier two must be killing them

Yeah. Though on the flip, if Ecotricity customers are working from home they might be using a lot more energy and boosting Vince’s coffers.

Tranmere, Bolton and Salford will all come good. I think the table will look quite different at the end of the season.

They say the league takes shape over ten games but agree I can see some changes (although I'd be amazed if Southend finished anywhere other than bottom).

Thinking more on this the lack of pre-season seems to have really hampered the clubs who had big player turnover (Salford/Tranmere/Mansfield), those who had some stability have started well in the main.

The market is narrowing, on SkyBet at least, with three sides now odds on to go up.

Promotion odds:

Carlisle 4/9
Chelt 8/11
FGR 8/11

Exeter etc 11/8 +

If Carlisle do it with what is going to be a solid Sat-Tues-Sat-Tues, including lots of long trips, then fair play to them.

I know its obvious but its in our hands, over the last 3-4 weeks we gave seen the league table become bunched so that a few defeats or a few wins mean the difference between 3rd and 10th.

Indeed. Just win our games. Hence the countdown thread.

‘Gaps’ opening in the odds table as per the league table.

SkyBet on automatic promotion:

FGR 1/2
Chelt 8/11
Carlisle 11/10
Exeter 2/1
Cambridge 11/4
Salford 10/3

Morecambe are remarkably at 5/1.

Bradford and Bolton are closing in. I'm surprised neither of them are more fancied than Carlisle, given form and they don't have as many games to fit in.

I guess they think it is a “good run” which by default will end and revert to the norm, rather than being an indication of rest of the season.

Looking at the the fixtures, Bolton have to play Bradford and also seven of the current play off/promotion battlers...so not unreasonable to assume that is eight games where they don’t pick up many points. Then the gap is looking like it was eight games ago...

We're only 4-7 games into the second half of the season (depending on the team) - most teams have to play most other teams still. The size of their squads and the fact Bolton have a big squad and have more Tuesday's of rest than most other teams makes them far more likely to hit the top 3 than Carlisle, in my eyes. Almost tempted to stick a tenner on them for top 3.

Amazingly Carlisle still third favourites to reach playoffs despite being in tenth and losing yesterday.

I stuck a bet on Bolton getting top 7 after seeing this thread aswell, seems good value

We need to improve our home form.
We are top of the away form table but 13th in the home form table over the whole season so far.
Nine at home still to play and seven away. Wish it was the other way around at the moment.
Tranmere home on Good Friday could be a big one.

I wonder if that`s why Colin Murray on EFL Quest has suddenly noticed us after ignoring us for months,he does seem to favour the more fashionable clubs with media appeal ?
