Morecambe delayed by snow at Port Vale, remarkably. Who knew it was snowing anywhere today.asl wrote:Morecambe losing, though there must have been a late start. Cambridge now 3-1 Down. FGR 2-1 down.

Bolton land a blow in the race for third place.
Can Tranmere respond?

Tranmere cannot.
Finishes 0-0. Even if we lose all our games Tranmere need to win three from six, or win two and draw two.

Four defeats in a row for FGR. Five defeats in six in fact. And they are still somehow only five points off third spot.
That tells you all you need to know about whether the sides in fourth fifth are going to threaten us

Looking to Tuesday then. Bolton travel to Salford and Tranmere travel to Walsall.
We don’t play so it is feet up knowing we will be top no matter what happens. If either side fail to win the that is fantastic.
Salford then have to travel to Tranmere next Saturday. They are only three points off the playoffs....if they can beat Bolton and Tranmere and push FGR out of the top seven at the same time, then I might not dislike them so much!

Some would say prophetic - originally posted 3rd MarchBen3 wrote:Yes yes, we should secure promotion on Tuesday 27th April, no problems at all. That's the date, you can mark it in your diaries now if you want, save yourselves the stress of the ups and downs between now and then

Going as expected so far, barring one positive.
Morecambe 2-0 up at HT.
Bolton 0-1 up away at Salford after 30 mins.
However, Tranmere are being held at Walsall 0-0 currently after 30 mins. If Tranmere do end up drawing then we stay six points clear with a game in hand.l

Even if Morecambe win all five games they have left, we only need to win three from six. I think you are right about the top three.Shade wrote:The top 3 are now set, I think, just down to what order they finish in. CTFC with the advantage, obviously.

More importantly, Morecambe 1-0 up at home already. They might make us wait to the 27th!

I think Morecambe are more likely to drop points on Tuesday (away at Grimsby) and next week (home to Bolton) than they are today.
I'll take those, a win, a draw and a defeat for the 3 who were closest to us. Shame we are off the top for now, but I feel its more important that Bolton lost again as I fear they could have gone on another run and won all their remaining games, whereas I think Cambridge will drop points.
Whatever has happened, we need to remember how to score some goals from open play. Fast.

Tranmere draw, Bolton lose.
Morecambe the only threat to our promotion now. Tranmere look out of it.
Malabus and the other bed wetters on Twitter can hopefully calm down again.

Indeed. It is a close lead and we have lost fewer games than any other team. Cambridge have won one more, but have played one more.Shade wrote:As frustrating as it is to see us play as we did, we have just got to remember that everyone else is trying their best not to win it too.
We are still the most consistent team in the league. We aren’t going to suddenly collapse for the last five games, and our less consistent rivals are not going to suddenly become world beaters and win their last four.

What a match on Saturday: Morecambe vs Bolton. The winner takes third in all likelihood.
