Jez Moxey is a quotes machine

The Board would like to place on record their sincere thanks and appreciation to Mick McCarthy and he leaves with the very best wishes of everyone connected to the club."
Wolves are a great old club and we have to give ourselves a fighting chance.’
Mick has been an exemplary manager,’ said Moxey. ‘We are not a hiring and firing club but we had to arrest the decline.’
Moxey admitted: “People have said maybe we should have gone behind Mick’s back and tried to line someone up beforehand.

“Maybe that’s the way people work in this business, but we’re a loyal organisation and we like to do things properly and professionally.

“There weren’t many highly experienced candidates.”

Wolves were founder members of the League.
They were relegated to the second division in 1906, and played a single season, 1923-4 in Division 3 (North)
They returned to the top flight in 1932, and won title three teams in the fifties, (54, 58 and 59)
They then had two single year drops, 1966-7 and 1976-7

They were relegated again in 1982, came back as runners up in 83, and then went all the way down with three successive relegation, 84,85 and 86

The spent two seasons in the bottom tier but then won Divisions 4 and 3 in successive seasons.

They were in the play offs in 1995, 1997, 2002 and 2003 - losing three times in the semi-final, winning promotion in 2003
...only to be relegated a year later.

They failed again in the playoffs of 2007, won the Championship title in 2009 and survived three seasons in the Premier League

You could fit Whaddon Rd and the bowling green in just one half of the Stan Cullis.

But you need a decent team to play in front of it.

All the more humiliating for Wolves having to come to Whaddon Road, Crawley, Yeovil etc.

Just to make forum members completely aware, the giant club of Wolverhampton Wanderers has had no confirmation of demotion to L1. Wolves are currently a Championship side until the FL says otherwise.

Come on Crystal Palace tonight. If they win they are guaranteed at least 5th place, so have nothing to play for when Peterborough travel to Selhurst.

Barnsley and Huddersfield 2-2 they keep swapping places for that 3rd relegation slot

All the teams at the bottom are fighting like crazy to stay up

Except for Wolves.. whimpering and crying as they drop

Hull miss a pen with 2 min to go (fans all over the pitch thinking Hull were up before the pen)
20 secs to go Cardiff get a pen and score

Hull have to wait 16 min to see if they go up as Watford still playing
Watford need to win to go up

Gotta love the last day
