Something everyone else in the world knew within a second of the announcement.

The problem I see is why should the World Cup be held just to please the Premier League. If for instance the the World Cup was awarded to Australia, a good idea to promote the game better there possibly, are we saying it is alright to interrupt the their League schedule just so that it doesn't interrupt the Premier League.

its not just the Premier League though is it other European countries play the times as us

There would be no problem in playing a World Cup in Australia in our summer, (their winter) - and it would not interrupt their professional season. Last season's grand final was on 21 April, and the new season starts next month. They have amateur and semi professional games going on at that time, (which as the Australian fixtures for the pools), but there are no rules saying these have to stop for the World Cup. The German amateurs continued playing when the World Cup in Germany started.

While Blatter is quoted as saying that awarding the World Cup to Qatar may have been a mistake, he is not saying it was his mistake (although being as the decision was taken by the executive committee, you can be sure he was not against the award).

Having been to a football tournament in Qatar (in January), I can say that the Qatar World Cup will be a nightmare for fans. The country is prohibitively expensive, is likely to be more expensive during a World Cup and even if they relax alcohol restrictions, there is little to do on days when one is not at a match.

And CV, most of South America has a similar season as well

However, Blatter is right in saying that the European leagues do not have the right to dictate that a World Cup is played at a specific time of year. The European leagues will just have to adapt and adjust their fixtures to fit - and despite admitting the mistake, Blatter is not threatening to reverse the 2012 decision

I'd imagine the Qatari's would raise a costly legal case should FIFA even suggest that the decision is reversed.

They might even demand all the bribes be returned.

It was chosen as the venue for a summer World Cup. You can't have somewhere chosen as a venue by a vote and then change the parameters afterwards unless absolutely everybody agrees to it.

The only way out of this mess is if the Qatari's themselves come out and say they can't stage it in the summer at which point FIFA would be able to take it away from them, which isn't going to happen.
