A strange situation to have ended up in. Looks like the local council have dropped a clanger, by seemingly approving permission for something that didn't meet regulations, resulting in Barnet changing the plans - which then did not align to the originally (and wrongly) granted planning permission.
Sounds like the local residents are the victims in all of this.

I read it as they built something for which permission hadn't been granted, same as the classic trick of getting permission for an outbuilding or conversion of a certain size and then building a few square feet bigger and hope no one notices.Circa 1887 wrote:A strange situation to have ended up in. If you read the comments at the foot of the page, the indication is that the originally approved plans did not comply with current regulations - so should not have been approved. When realised, plans were changed - but without engagement with the local community.
In essence, the council shouldn't have granted permission originally. Having realised, Barnet adapted the building plans - but in such a way that the locals don't like. Equally, as they have not stuck to the original plans (through necessity/council cock up) they are now in breach of their planning permission.
It's basically a total cluster-f***.
