Simple answer, certainly for Stoke Sentinel, don't give them an inch in your paper and absolutely no promotion. How short sighted is the club being?
Clubs restricting journalists
Moderators: Admin, Ralph, asl, Robin
And this is one reason that we have to trust JP to know when/when not to push for answers or print some stories that whilst we want to know the answers could damage future relations with the club and therefore put an end to his coverage if the club sees fit.

And the only people to lose out would be....the club due to less promotion. Echo could just refuse to publish fixtures and ticket news and match results and CTFC a forgotten club overnight.
From a fans point of view I'd like journalists to probe and push and I trust the journalists to know what would be too damaging to on pitch results and what wouldn't and not print the former.
But papers need football coverage to boost sales so I see it fron their point of view.

I suppose as the Echo are a sponsor your OK
Not to mention the way it hounded Maddog out ( joking)
and or the support and easy questioning of MY
Also there are too many cub reports in the team now.
You would think that they would be doing a secret Ruby report for the Echo
