Anyone else think that maybe the Club President told him he needs to play Garath Bale more as they have no intention of selling him - and he's decided he doesn't want anyone else picking the team for him? And with Real finishing a lowly third in La Liga, maybe he didn't have enough clout behind him to convince otherwise.
At the very least, the change of manager might well scupper the ambitions of a lot of big clubs who thought Bale was on the market.
