No more grants for the NL. Clubs to be offered loans only.
Many clubs likely to be between a rock and a hard place.
I wonder if any of the small clubs who got disproportionately high grant at the start of the season saved some of it in anticipation of a continued lockdown, or whether they spaffed it.

Agreed.
I do support funding of artificial pitches as these are a long term investment in a community asset with positive health outcomes for people using them and they can be used by schools and clubs thus reducing the cost to taxpayers of maintaining grass pitches and playing fields, becoming a net source of public benefit over many years.
However, I do not support throwing good money after bad and giving cash to clubs which will just go in to a black hole of wages and owners’ debt repayments and run out in three months time.
Giving cash as a loan forces clubs to plan for the future and develop a business model to be able to survive and repay the loans. Another handout which will be burned in three months doesn’t do that.

Genuine question, have CTFC got or are getting any financial support this year and if so how much, where from, and are these loans or grants?

because maybe letting a whole pyramid of football clubs go bust is....bad?

Yeah, we got £250,000 in the EFL hand out in December as a grant. So a similar deal to what the National League clubs got. There is no talk or prospect of anything else else being offered, not even loans.SHANDY VOR wrote:Genuine question, have CTFC got or are getting any financial support this year and if so how much, where from, and are these loans or grants?

We are still set to lose over £1m of revenue from not having fans, so the grant only covers a few months.
Also worth noting we had nothing at the start of the season. EFL clubs started the season in the hope a deal would be reached, so relying on the annual TV money, season ticket sales, and streaming only.
If it came to it now, I would rather they stopped the League than give more hand outs. There is a risk that if the season continues some clubs may go to the wall, but that is life.
The FA Cup and EFL Trophy runs will bring in close to another £200,000 when all said and done so they have been a lifeline many clubs don’t have. Something to thank Duff for.
But where do you stop, kids football? After all they’re the future players.Joey wrote:ctfc-fan wrote:Alex Petheram from Glos City was questioned on it on BBC Glos on Saturday. Was disappointed but why should the government just throw money at sports clubs?

There isn’t a limitless pot of cash.

Kids football is probably more worthwhile to support than the minor tiers.ctfc-fan wrote:But where do you stop, kids football? “Clubs have been given three options.
The first is for clubs to individually loan money via a central application which contains assessment criteria with preferential rates, and those rates could include holiday payments and be negotiated.
The second is for the National League to take on the loan and distribute money to its clubs as grants, with Sport England signing off the distribution model. This would impact the central funding clubs receive in future, but is initially looking like the preferred option.
The last is for the season to be suspended for an unspecified amount of time. All leagues could be suspended or just one Step, with the Winter Survival Package and furlough scheme able to be used.”

Club statement from Gloucester/AP:

Also, in his video with Neil he says it is unfair the EFL got a grant so why are the NL being given a loan!
He is just wrong when he says L2 got a grant for a whole season. CTFC got £250,000.... so three or four months worth. The same as what the NL got...three months worth.
So he is moaning about being offered a loan when the EFL haven’t even got that.
Cut the bullsh!t AP!!

In the video with Neil I mentioned, AP says they get £2,000 a month from sponsors. In this email (below) to the National League he says they have lost 100% of their sponsorship.... can this man give an honest statement?

Also, not sure how seriously the National League will take that rant....a bit more professionalism needed if he wants the suits to take any notice.

FAO Shandy...this is a proper professional statement from the Kidderminster CEO. http://harriers.co.uk/news/2021/01/29/u ... il-male-2/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Compare and contrast with AP’s tirades.

Well it's pretty certain the North season won't continue, but one suggestion I have seen is that this seasons points tally rolls over into 2021-22.
This is probably something that City should try to canvas support for rather than flog a dead horse.
Here is a statement Hereford issued earlier.
