Rochdale: How a seemingly stable club...

Talk about other football teams at all levels. AND ANY Glos City related threads, even if talking about the groundsharing.

...such as ourselves (in comparison to so many others) can find themselves in tricky situations due to decisions made by some in the board room - something we're not complete strangers to:

Credit to the fans for doing due diligence and mobilising to block the deal, rather than being taken in and having their tummies tickled by obvious spivs. If more fans made that it effort I would have more sympathy when spivs bankrupt clubs.

That being said, a few concerns in there which will mean tough decisions for the fans should they secure ownership. The club clearly isn’t sustainable as is…and without outside investment the only option is to bite the bitter pill cut wages, which may mean missing out on better players.

“They are certainly not on their own in this but Rochdale's playing budget outstrips the finance generated from ticket sales.”

“The club does not own a training ground and their academy, on which so much importance rests in terms of generating revenue, uses local pitches and an external indoor facility.”

“[Following a cup run windfall of £1.4m in 2019] the previous year when Rochdale were eliminated from the FA and EFL Cups in the second round, they posted a loss of £1.2m.”
