At least they got the intelligence to do something...

I cannot trust any mainstream party in the UK to tackle our problems.

"I was introduced to the chief engineer, who was making the most sophisticated engines for Formula 1 cars and he happened to be Indian, and he was coming to the end of his visa and under the existing rules he was going to have to go back to India and reapply for admission to the UK, right in the middle of a high-pressure contract. It was completely absurd."

Hope that stays the same when 500,000+ Romanians and Bulgarians come in January 2014.

These articles have no validity because the majority immigrants are not recorded to be in the UK.

Population is up, thats the truth.

If the population did not increase the government would be very concerned and would encourage more immigrants to come....

Not recorded but you know how many?

I doubt very much we'll see 500,000.

Why?
Because otherwise we'd have an ageing population that would incur more public spending and reduce the number of people in the workforce over time and because they believe it's it's essential for our nations prime goal of exponential GDP growth at all costs.

Whilst those in favour of exponential growth believe in technological fixes (more energy efficiency, GM crops, improved energy efficiency and fuel modes for engine-powered machines) for most things, the obvious limit is space in terms of housing, and things where space is still needed as fix has yet to be found (hospitals, houses, etc).

But yes, the rate of population growth is a concern to all whether you agree with the above or not. Personally I think a steady-state economy would be just as good for our citizens but most do not.
