One of the commentators just stated that he believes after his achievements that he is the great athlete that we've ever had. Would you agree?

Maybe, especially in the context of having six Africans going after him every race.
Does it eclipse Redgrave or Hoy though?

I don't go in for this 'greatest athlete' stuff. He's the best we've ever had at middle distance running, for sure. If he were to break into track cycling, road cycling and rowing and won gold and got into the England football team and won the World Cup as well then he might earn the 'greatest athlete ever' tag.
If you grew up in Mogadishu, you'd have learned to run like hell and then keep running, too...
Running 27 laps of the track or whatever it is and *still* having the strength to run one more at sub-60 secs is pretty phenomenal and he gets my vote as far as track and field athletics is concerned.

Well he's going into marathons next so in terms of running he could become the best we've ever had. But the way ex-Daggers defender Adam Gemili is going, in a few years he could become our greatest ever short distance runner. Only dedicated himself full time to athletics last year and at 20 became only the second Briton ever to do the 200m in under 20 seconds. He's not bad at the 100m either. Don't think he'll beat Bolt just yet though!
