800 homes planned between Cheltenham and Shurdington.

There is a reason why the population is increasing: open borders.

All I can think is the land where the old hotel used to be, next to the care home? That stretches a fair way back down Chargrove Lane? I had to nip to B&Q on Saturday before the football so went in via Shurdington, past my old house in Up Hatherley and was shocked at the amount of building that has taken place on the old M&G sports fields. It now seems pretty much built up all the way round to Arle Court.

And what are those monstrosities being built in Tivoli, almost opposite St Stephen's Road...???

Here are a couple of photos of the so called houses at Tivoli. If the were in a different location these may look OK but really look out of place where they are; to much of a stark difference between them and current housing.

Agree with RTT the new buildings in Tivoli are an eyesore. Just proves we cannot trust CBC planning staff.

This is not something new, houses have always been built and always will be built on land that someone thinks is greenbelt. When I was a young lad living in Kipling Road in St Marks I could look out of my bedroom window and see nothing but fields, no Hesters Way in those days, no Benhall esatate (that was a small wood where we used to go birds nesting) no Warden Hill, no Hatherley, just fields. Beyond the wooden huts of the community centre (formerly an American army base) there was a large playing field with about 8 football pitches, beyond that was the Grammar school playing field and beyond that just more fields. GCHQ was just a few Nissan huts and Dowty's factory was down the road but no Golden Valley by-pass.
So where do the people who are complaining about these new houses live, probably in Hesters Way, Benhall, Warden Hill or Hatherley; people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

Well said TaxiDave. We have an expanding population, and no Malabus not from immigration, and more one parent families so there is bound to be a shortage of living accommodation. Even if the new ones are not the ones that suitable for starters, it could be that the houses that people leave to fill the new houses will be.

Why did the government allow an expanding population; have they no control? Countryside will be lost forever once you start laying concrete, wildlife eradicated to cater for human greed. Start using some brain cells people. This government is anti British countryside and feels no emotion (social paths) to the murder of our beautiful wildlife and fauna.

So 2.27% of England is built on. I think wildlife have a reasonable proportion...

ERMMMM 1/4 Cheltenham to be build around Cheltenham in the next 15 years. Let's stick to the facts, usually helps. BBC are liars : government funded and mouthpiece.

We are not China, we do not limit the population by controlling how many are born. There was a report a couple days ago that this country did not have enough midwives during the last decade for the number of births and their prognosis for the future is the same. There may come a time when we may have to limit births but that would be decades and decades away and probably Mother Nature or War would alleviate the situation by then.

I've heard that you will not be able to buy any of the new houses destined for Cheltenham unless your surname ends in 'ov'.
