We are continuously reminded that we are the fifth richest nation on the planet and we got the Red Cross battling to help the NHS to tackle the foreigners in our hospitals.
I have given up, lost hope.

Underfunded. British people don't like taxation but then expect good free healthcare. And a government ideologically opposed to free healthcare are happy to see this happen and instead enforce privatisation of some NHS functions and divert tax revenue to companies like Capita and Sodexo who are making an inefficient shambles of behind the scenes NHS administration.
And it will only get worse as our population ages and the tax base has to support more and more retired people.
Time to index retirement age to life expectancy, increasing the former regularly in line with the latter.
