If anyone is looking to change energy provider for gas & electric, check out Bulb energy and you can have a £50 credit applied to your account. If you follow this link when setting up (takes 2 mins and switching is automatic from your current provider): https://bulb.co.uk/refer/christopher1412" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I recently switched to Green Network Energy. £57 a month, and had a 3 month statement the other day saying I'm £25 in credit so far. Hell of a lot less than I was paying on British Gas. On top of that, a call to their customer services lasted approx. 2 and a half mins, from dialling to hanging up, and my query was resolved.
In my job I have to call all of the main energy companies and deal with some bills, and GNE has, so far, been the best I've dealt with in the last 8/9 years, with some of the cheapest prices.

I'd get the same credit to my bill as you would get for signing up. It's cheaper than the big 6 so why not?RegencyCheltenhamSpa wrote:Ecotricity always had top customer services in my experience.

Who pays for the infrastructure then?Malabus wrote:Energy should be free for all.
Until decent storage is available this is limited in hours of darkness for PV.Malabus wrote:Nearly everything can be powered from solar waves using photovoltaics (PV), or concentrated solar power (CSP).
Converting solar into energy is simple and cost effective.
That's what the big energy cooperations tell you. They invest greatly to tell you that you need them.ctfc-fan wrote:Until decent storage is available this is limited in hours of darkness for PV.Malabus wrote:Nearly everything can be powered from solar waves using photovoltaics (PV), or concentrated solar power (CSP).

Mal is correct. There are constant advances in home storage batteries.
But not enough to make them commonplace or to store power for millions of homes.RegencyCheltenhamSpa wrote:Mal is correct. There are constant advances in home storage batteries.
Also if there's a power cut they have to automatically be turned off if you're on grid so that defeats the object.
Beware of smart grids; it's a tool to intrude on your privacy.
