10 months sentence for this. Pitiful or fair?

Although no injury seems to have happened, surely deliberately running into someone counts as intent to cause harm and should be more than 10 months inside?

The arrogance, selfishness and sense of entitlement of the offender is astonishing.

I think the teacher was a bit stupid and wound the driver up by sitting on the car. He didn't need to do that but that's not condoning the driver's actions.
